Not a real virus, just really annoying ads. You can block Airpush with Airblocker - Airpush blok (root-access required) and detect with AirPush Detector. Maybe, also AdFree or AdAway will help.

Allowed... in my opinion, the developers should get hanged, if they're using such ad-methods. But for Google, it seems to be allowed, yes. I only recommend, to uninstall apps immediately, if you see it or getting detected by AirPush Detector. Not only you'll loose some runtime, but i don't know what happens, if you click on the banners. Better be aware of such software.
