Review: Abducted from Earth by aliens, Sara is abandoned, Kelon doctor, Solron discovers her near death at an abandoned during a search of an enemy base.

“We’ve cleared out the base. The only thing left is this,” growled the low voice of the first Xerson.“The human is useless. I bought it for my amusement and it’s served its purpose. The valuable breeding slaves are already secure. This one will only take up space. Leave it. It will be dead before long.” Sara recognized the voice of the one who enjoyed inflicting pain and humiliation on her the most. It took her a split second to understand that they were leaving her to die and abandoning the station where she was kept.

Solron surprises himself by becoming attached to his ‘Starshine’ and fights his attraction to her while he cares for her injuries. He slowly earns Sara’s trust with his patience as he helps her overcome the effects of her torture, and attraction sneaks in as they travel to earth to return her to her family as she requested when she first awoke.

The closer to Earth and the end of their time together looms, Sara grows more distressed at the thought of leaving Solron.

When they arrive on Earth she discovers and everything she knew has changed, and her home is gone.

“Hell no, I’m not going with you. I’m not going to let you interrogate me and do experiments on me. I want to stay with the Kelons and I want to stay with Solron. I love him, so go shove it up your drainpipe.”

“I thought it was what I wanted, but my world has changed, I’ve changed. Deep down, I knew I couldn’t live without you. I love you.”

Back on Kelon, a visit from delegates for negotiations a fight breaks out and Solron is called to treat injuries, but when they arrive Sara comes face to face with a nightmare from her past. Solron claims battle rights against the Xerson, for the terror and pain he inflicted on his mate.

The challenge has a surprising conclusion, but I won’t spoil that for you!

I really enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading the rest of the series. This series has been on my TBR for a while

I loved the alien abduction theme of this book, and the drama of the way Sara is abandoned by her captors. Solrons tender care and affection for Sara was very moving, he had the patience of a saint throughout Sara’s recovery.
Her nightmares, panic, and fear of being alone in the dark, were harrowing, despite her experience she comes to love Solron.

I felt the book was too short and the author could have gone into more detail about Sara and Solron’s backgrounds, Solron’s difficult relationship with his father, and Sara’s family.

The fact that the author didn’t just write in a magical cure for Sara’s recovery as found in other books was a bonus, that cop out is always disappointing!

I gave this book a rating of three stars, even though I enjoyed it I felt there could’ve been more to this story.
