Hi, I’m Jay the newest reviewer on the team. I’m a 31yr old African American female from NY, and a Leo. I got started with sci-fi when my 5th grade teacher assigned the class Octavia E. Butler's Xenogenesis series; after reading the series I was pretty much hooked. I searched for other books by Octavia Butler, and read them all.
I discovered Goodreads in November 2011. I was working the graveyard shift that’s when I really started reading and looking for books to pass the time. Goodreads opened up a new world for me, helped me discover books I never would have known about before. I used to choose books by perusing the sci-fi fantasy shelf at the library for interesting covers and then checking the synopsis; although I did discover some awesome books in this manner goodreads recommendations were more convenient and efficient. I read almost every day; I never leave my house without my NOOK. While on the graveyard shift I read nearly a book a night in 2011 & 2012. I read 298 books each year, 398 books during 2013, 261 books during 2014, 297 books during 2015. My reading pace has slowed down this year as I no longer work on the graveyard shift, which leaves me less time for my beloved hobby. I’ve read 107 books so far my reading goal for this year is more modest only 150 books. You can see I really love to read.
My interests are Fiction, mostly sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal, and dystopian, but I can read anything although I try to stick to my preference when reviewing because I'm a sap. I appreciate authors and while I like to be honest I also hate writing bad reviews.
