Overview: R.L. Merrill started writing five years ago to deal with some not-so-pleasant life situations and to escape from the icky parts of being a responsible adult. It's turned into a very fulfilling way to spend her minuscule amount of free time and has mostly kept her sane. Her stories involve real life struggles and the romance that gets us through. Her novels are influenced and inspired by her own experiences as well as those of folks around her that she admires and respects for their strength and perseverance. She's lived in the Bay Area her whole life, with the exception of the four very good years she spent in rural Iowa during college. She's been an educator for twenty years as both a teacher and school counselor, and has spent time working closely with police and non-profit agencies as a Domestic Violence Victim Advocate. She is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, tattoo collector, Metal fan, movie geek and book nerd, and she currently presides over a horde of animals consisting of two cats, a dog, a Jackson's Chameleon, various fish varieties, and a rat.

The Rock Season: Stevie Wilson is about to welcome a new life into an unsure world. Estranged from the father of her unborn child, she turns to her love of attending concerts with her vivacious best friend to deal with the stress and uncertainty. As a teacher and blogger, she counts on the magic of the music to ease her troubled thoughts of what will come next. What she wasn’t counting on was meeting a “savior” with fathomless, dark brown eyes.
Aaron McShane gave up a lucrative Silicon Valley career to live the dream of owning an independent music store in downtown Hayward. His responsibilities have kept him from finding and settling down with the right person, but he wouldn’t have it any other way. With his bicultural, multigenerational family all under one roof and giving him grief, he takes on a second job doing security at his favorite venue so he can escape and be close to his first love: music. What better place, especially when one gets to rescue a pregnant damsel in distress with a gorgeous mane of fiery red hair?
These two music lovers are thrust together just when they each needed something to hold on to. Can their fledgling love withstand the pressures of family, grief, and violence? Music brought them together, will it help them heal together?

Haunted: Tattoo artist and trained therapist Jaylene Charles learned early on that it was easier to keep people at a distance than to worry about disappointing them. When her overbearing father died unexpectedly, Jaylene followed her heart to New Orleans, where she found kindred spirits and started living the dream of owning her own tattoo shop. She had everything she thought she wanted when opportunity barged into her shop in the form of five tattooed, pierced, and broken-hearted rock n' roll boys.
Maggie's Bones were meant to be Metal's next big thing when tragedy struck, leaving them devastated and at each other's throats. With the label breathing down their necks for the follow up to their latest insanely successful album, they headed home to Louisiana to salvage their career with Jaylene's help. She instantly connected with the band's most troubled member and fought her attraction to this broken man with the sorrowful eyes and missing smile.
Will Jaylene trust that he can really love her and not just the support she's giving the band? Will she be able to help them find their muse? Will she finally accept that letting people in doesn't always lead to disappointment?
