A Highlander's Love Story with the enemy by R.O Sawyer
Requirements: ePUB or AZW3 Reader 292 KB
Overview: Adair Braid was too young to be allowed to assess people or judge them especially if it was his father or family. Yet, the young boy wondered if his mother had gone crazy. He would always see his mother wearing the same bright and vibrant smile that lit lips. How could she smile in the face of such people? Adair wondered frantically. His body shook with fear as he watched the way those people treated his mother. He would see her fingers tremble with horror and misery. She had no brothers who could help her and no family to go to as well. Her face became paler like alabaster skin, and her flesh made her look like white ghosts. He could still recall how her brown hair was tied back tightly into a thick braid that was hanging down the length of her back like a dangling rope. Adair could still recall how tender his mother was to him, how she was flinging her arms around her son’s shoulders and hugging him all the time as tightly as she could.
But that day her hug was different as she caressed his hair calmly, and told him reassuringly. “Don’t worry, my son, I will come back,” she whispered silently. “I will come back for you. You know I will do that.” Adair pulled back to look into his mother’s blue eyes. Both of them were glazed and had a faraway dreamy glance to them. That blissful smile Adair saw on his mother’s face was the last smile he had ever seen before she left.
