Calvin Weaver's on his way home from attending an auction for some new horses. He's used to feeling somewhat respected, given that his family owns quite a bit of land in Middlefield, and his great grandfather founded the town. When their train breaks down on the outside of Cleveland and Calvin and Lucy realize they are the only two Amish people aboard the train, they band together to find a place to stay for the night. But Calvin is taken aback by Lucy's independent ways and lack of interest in him. Their fragile truce falls apart when they get to Middlefield. Lucy's busy with caring for Mattie and Calvin is busy helping run the town. But neither can completely forget the bond that was forged on that train. Calvin decides it's time to court Lucy in earnest... before she leaves his life forever.
2 - The Protector: When Ella's father passes away, she's forced to auction most of his belongings, including her family's land. Though she knows she couldn't manage the fifty acres on her own, she can't stop the bitterness she feels toward the new owner, Loyal Weaver. Remodeling and repairing the Troyer's old farmhouse, he intends to make the farm profitable--as Ella had once dreamed of doing.
Protective of Ella's bruised feelings, Loyal asks her for help and advice for the home he's fixing up--the home that he secretly hopes will be hers again, as his wife.

It isn't easy to be Katie Weaver. Her sister-in-law Ella is about to have a baby, making Katie an aunt for the second time . . . and she's only six and a half! Plus, her favorite librarian, Miss Donovan, seems sad. She won't even fix up the rundown nativity in front of the library in time for Christmas. Then, an old woman is attacked outside the library, and, one by one, the nativity figures start to disappear!
Luckily, there's a new deputy in town, Connor Fields. He takes a real liking to Miss Donovan . . . and he promises to find the missing nativity pieces for Katie.
