The Graffiti Effect - MARCO “THE GRAFFITI EFFECT” GRAF
Being an exotic dancer is a life I was made for. Sh*t gives me a high like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. Since the very first time I stepped onstage to perform, it’s been magic. First things first, I do need to ask that you not confuse exotic dancing with stripping. I don’t give full-frontal views. I give just enough—of an illusion. Being able to create fantasies for women is hot as f*ck. They love it! They get excited at a level that their men may never make them reach. Yeah, it’s that hot. At the end of a performance, it’s not uncommon for me to take one of the lucky ones back to my suite, for a night of adult fun. No strings attached. No emotions attached—at least not on my part.
But, there was that one time . . .
I knew there would be a bride-to-be in attendance. I knew that her name was Kassidi. In fact, I knew of her before she knew me. I also knew that I’d bring her onstage as a part of the surprise. What I didn’t know, was that I would be compelled to go an extra step with her, during my set. I could say that I gave her a little extra attention to make her feel special. But the truth was, she had an energy about her that I liked. That I was drawn to.
KASSIDI “KASS” HENSON
At thirty-five, I was the last of my friends to enter a committed relationship. Unacceptable. At least in my book, it was. By now, I was supposed to have gotten a man that wanted to make me his wife . . . his life. Right? Well, I thought so. But then it happened. I got my proposal, I got my ring. What I didn’t get was as excited as I thought I’d be.
Maybe it was the obstacles in the way. Maybe it was me in my own way. I didn’t know, but I figured my upcoming bachelorette trip to Vegas would put my mind at ease. Relax me. Prepare me. But was that the right thing to do?
I had never been to Vegas.
[insert deep sigh here]
I was a Vegas-virgin. Perhaps I should’ve left it that way.
It was one show, one performance. Erotic. Mesmerizing. The Graffiti Effect. It certainly, had an effect. It brought about the same curiosity that led moths flying, eyes wide open, into burning flames. We danced, we talked. Then we talked some more. Then temptation tapped me on the shoulder. It convinced me of one last indiscretion. It was unavoidable. He was unavoidable. After it was all said and done, I was prepared to let what happened in Vegas, stay in Vegas . . .
However, fate had other plans for me.
The Gift - Kayla
It’s a week before Christmas, but Kayla Carter has nothing to celebrate. No tree, no plans, and no family to speak of. Her life is ripping apart at the seams. But this state of affairs is not new to Kayla. She is no stranger to life having its moments with her. But, at forty years old, she’s wondering why it is, that the universe is hell bent on dealing her a losing hand. With her vehicle newly repossessed, and an eviction notice pinned to her front door, Kayla knows it’s just a matter of time before she’ll be without a roof over her head, and searching for somewhere to go. But she has nowhere to go . . .Alone, in a world that is pulling no punches, defeat is singlehandedly, weighing Kayla down. And it all goes from bad to way worse, when a stranger shows up to drop off yet another piece of bad news.
Silas
When Silas Daniels arrives at Kayla’s front door, he’s there only to bring a misrouted 48-hour disconnection notice, from the gas & electric company. It mistakenly got mixed in with his daughter’s mail and he’s just there, as a favor, to deliver. His intent is to hand the envelope off to its rightful owner, and be on his way. But when Kayla opens the door, it takes only a few seconds for Silas to see the pain inside her eyes. She’s hurting, and in his hands he holds something to twist the knife further. He wants to help; she wants to be left alone. And while Silas wants to honor and respect her wishes, how can he walk away from her in her time of need? That’s not who he is. He simply can’t do it . . .
Risquè - Tick tock, tick tock . . .
It was the countdown to the start of my summer. Two-plus months to do as I pleased, without having to worry about obeying the blaring sound of an alarm clock. Now, I love my second graders. They’re some of the best little people, ever. But, hey . . . Mama needs a break.
And it’s not even like I had some elaborate plans. No trips to paradise, no exotic rendezvous with a sexy man. None of that. I wish, but no. Being a divorcee and an empty nester, my summers weren’t the most exciting. They consisted of lounging around, catching up on my shows, some liquor here, some adult toy action there. Basically, hanging out . . . with me. And I was so ready to be at one, with my solitude.
But then there was the box.
Imagine my surprise when I get home and there’s a box waiting for me at my front door. Its wrapping beautiful, the size kind of big. Initially, I was sure that it was for one of my neighbors; that it had been dropped off at my address by accident.
But then there was a note:
“Time for Recess. No supervision. No bells. No rules. Can you handle it?”
And that’s when I knew that my summer was about to be anything but the norm. That’s if I chose to accept the invitation…
Lethal Love - I loved a man and I thought he loved me.
So, his cheating-ass ways were a big surprise to me.
Even more shocking, was who he risked it all for…
somebody I never had a reason to believe, was a whore.
But I blame me...
Because I'm usually better about who's in my space,
knowing that those in relationships, sometimes wear more than a single face.
They wanted to tap dance on someone’s heart.
They probably should’ve thought long and hard about that part.
So now because of what was done…
it’s only fair that I have me some fun.
I guess now they need to be shown the error of their ways.
To the point that they’re asking to see better days.
Cue the deep sigh…
Now, in the middle of my storm, something new fell in my path.
Something beautiful, something amazing... he came with a taste of something I've never had.
There’s absolutely no rushing, to the beat of love, present in my view…
But once my mission is complete, who knows what my heart will want to do?
The only disclaimer I’ll offer is this…
