Your New Best Friend - Jane Austen's Emma made a habit of meddling in other people's lives, but Melanie Abbott has turned it into a cottage industry.
As "modern American royalty" living in Abbott's Bay, Massachusetts, a town founded by her ancestor, Melanie feels it's her right—even her duty—to employ her uncanny knack for knowing exactly what everyone needs to improve their lives. She eagerly shares her advice with her friends and neighbors...whether they ask for it or not. If only Conn, her dearest friend, agreed with her.
Connacht Garvey has been keeping an eye on Melanie since they were kids. A bit older, far more level-headed, and infinitely patient, Conn is used to pulling Melanie back from whatever cliff's edge she's about to wander off. Conn thinks Melanie is egotistical, self-centered, irritating, infuriating, relentless, ridiculous...and irresistible. Not that Conn's confessed to that last one. Yet.
When Melanie impulsively starts up a new advice-giving business, it's an instant hit. Conn doesn't approve, as usual, which is too bad, because Melanie's convinced he needs her VIP package (of advice!)—his coffeehouse is showing signs of financial trouble, plus his toxic ex is suddenly sniffing around, acting like she's having second thoughts about their breakup. If anyone needs Melanie's help, it's Conn. Will Melanie and Conn's friendship be blown to bits because of Melanie's meddling...or will it become something more?
By Design - Emmie Brewster has a few choice words for whatever demon spreads the notion among women that life is over if you don't have everything locked down by the time you're 30. Its insidious message has gotten to her, because at mumble-mumble-mutter-something past that deadliest of deadlines, Emmie feels like she's about to turn into a turnip.
Lousy job? Check. Although she's an interior designer, Emmie isn't allowed to do anything more at the studio than answer the phone and make coffee, thanks to her testy boss. Sketchy boyfriend? Double check. Kyle is perfectly content to treat their relationship like one long booty call. Neglectful family? Well, she'd love to confide in her dad...if she could catch him between his endless vacations. With a life like this, cutting her own bangs and collecting cats must be in her very near future.
Emmie, however, is not going down without a fight, and she decides to make some changes in her life. Starting with taking charge of her career. And dislodging that particularly tenacious tick, Kyle. Unfortunately, life fights back, and Emmie finds it's not so easy to rise above it all...until hottie architect Graham Cooper walks into the office, seeking an interior designer to work on an important project.
Graham is kind, charming, funny, and, most surprising of all, believes in Emmie more than she believes in herself. Can Emmie push past her insecurity and take charge of her life once and for all? Well, slap on the goggles and the hard hat, vacuum up the plaster dust, and dislodge the demon, because Emmie's sure going to try.
Unscripted - There’s always a sort of symmetry to the universe, something that Faith Sinclair, UNCOMPROMISING, take-no-prisoners executive producer of the hit TV show Modern Women, found out the hard way one day when, in a fit of pique, she grabbed her meddling boss by the...you know (just to make a point, you understand), and the next thing she knew, she was out on her...you know.
But Faith refuses to give up just yet. Without her at the helm, Modern Women’s ratings hit the skids, which is UNACCEPTABLE. Faith decides to do the UNTHINKABLE: track down Alex, their former white-hot male lead who had walked away from TV at the peak of his popularity to be a movie star. If Faith can convince Alex to return, she’ll save the show and get her job back. All she has to do is keep her stupid crush on Alex under control.
There’s one UNEXPECTED problem, though: Alex’s film career fizzled, and now he’s hiding out, “studying his craft” at a small community college miles away from Hollywood. Faith can’t get anywhere near him, thanks to Alex’s UNAPOLOGETIC watchdog, Mason Mitchell, head of theater and film studies, who’s adamant about making sure Alex retains his privacy.
Mason is stubborn, but so is Faith. Mason is also hotter than the desert campus in August, but Faith doesn’t care about that...much. Her goal is to do an end run around the infuriating professor to get to Alex.
Then Mason makes her an UNCONVENTIONAL offer—a job teaching screenwriting. Will Faith accept because it will get her access to Alex...or get her closer to Mason?
None of this was part of the plan, but Faith is about to find out that life can be pretty exciting when it’s UNSCRIPTED.
