Twenty-four-year-old Lucy Booth is a mild-mannered executive assistant with a major crush on her boss, Aaron Ames. When the nerdy but adorable middle-manager finally asks her out for pizza one night, she's thrilled. And when he turns up at the office the next day looking clammy and complaining of being sick, she assumes he either has the flu, or he's been out partying too hard the night before.
But then she notices his newly acquired aversion to sunlight and the two puncture wounds on his neck...and he tells her he's been bitten by a vampire.
Not just bitten, but turned.
Lucy knows she can't simply abandon the man of her dreams to immortality as a bloodsucking nosferatu. She has to turn him back! But how?
Thankfully, her best friend, spunky bookseller Jessica Ramos, is up for the challenge. With her help, Lucy quickly discovers that vampire bites, while rare, are not as uncommon as one might hope. Particularly in the Houston suburbs. Teaming up with other victims--both recent and long past--of the undead, the women embark on a quest to cure Lucy's man.
Soon, Lucy finds herself battling malevolent forces she'd never before imagined might exist in real life. It's easily the scariest and most unexpected thing she's ever done, but it will all be worthwhile if she can rescue Aaron from the clutches of darkness and prevent him from spending eternity as a servant of evil.
If she can save him from succumbing forever to the wicked aftereffects of THE SHARPEST KISS.
...And if they can finally go out for that pizza.
2. Back to Bite You - “Why did all the good ones have to be undead? And staunchly opposed to dating the living?”
Seven weeks ago, Jessica Ramos was just a humble bookseller peddling paranormal romance novels in the Houston suburbs. She had no idea vampires actually existed. Now she’s met and fallen in love with one. His name is Nathan and he’s perfect for her. Too bad he’s also got hang-ups about getting romantically involved with a living woman. He’s declared he won’t date Jessica unless and until he’s back to being human again.
No sweat. Jessica’s convinced that she, her stake-toting best friend Lucy, and the rest of their new gang of supernatural-savvy friends can find a way to free Nathan from his vampiric curse. She’s determined to spend what’s left of her human life trying to make amends by helping other people in trouble, especially in cases where her knowledge of the paranormal might come in handy.
When her friend Harris calls on her, asking for her help finding his college roommate’s missing sister, Marta agrees to open an investigation. Dark magic might be involved in the young girl’s disappearance, but Marta’s confident she can unravel the case; she knows a few spells herself, and she’s got an enchanted talking dog and a psychic stone to help her out. What worries her most is the brand-new set of human hormones raging through her system, making it next to impossible to keep things with Harris strictly platonic.
Marta may have made the mistake of locking lips with Harris once or twice before, but she knows it’d be wrong to ever let it happen again—and certainly to take things any further. Her past is just too ugly, and her new life is too bizarre and dangerous. Harris is better off staying far away from her.
If only he didn’t seem so intent on doing just the opposite.
And if only his piercing green eyes and sultry kisses weren’t so incredibly irresistible…
