Rebecca knows her father; at least, she thinks she does, and he is supposed to be dead. When a shadow from her past shows up claiming to be her father, her only thought is to run. Run to keep the dangers she is sure this man embodies away from Zack, whom she's just learning to love.
Forced to separate from his family to keep them safe, Carlo is back to protect his daughter from the same enemy that took her mother away from him all those years ago. How does he convince Rebecca that he is really her father and that all he did was in her best interests?
Zack soon finds out that Becky is in way deeper trouble than he thought. Does this do anything to weaken his resolve to protect her, and it's there a darker reason behind his obsession with her?

“I’m not okay with this,” I whisper, thinking of something else I overheard a few weeks ago when Jacky first decided to stay. I don’t know what he was alluding to when he said Zack needs to tell me something important, but I got the impression it’s something big.
Rebecca is just a hairstylist, at least, that's what she thinks until she discovers she's a mob princess with someone bent on taking her life.
Zack is unrepentant of his promise to keep Rebecca safe, and even after he is shot by an intruder, he will gladly take another bullet if it means protecting the woman he loves. There is a problem though, whoever is after Rebecca's life seems to have information on him that should not even exist.
Between Zack's protection and her overprotective father's henchmen, Rebecca is as safe as can be. When she finds out that Zack is keeping secrets from her, supposedly to protect her, she can't help but feel betrayed and decides to leave him. After all, if he really loves her, why would he keep secrets from her?

"I remember being so eager to get out of here when I was a girl but I refuse to play into their hands now. At one point she snapped and snarled at me that she’d been a good mother, always playing with me and I laughed, though I said nothing.
If playing with your kid means terrifying them and chasing them like prey, then sure. We had a lot of playtimes together."
When Zack moved into this small town, he did so to find solace and escape the nightmares of his time with the Navy SEALs. However, when mafia princess Rebecca, his lover, is kidnapped, he must draw on his combat experience and call up his old squad to rescue her.
Rebecca recognizes the darkroom she has been locked in. The same room she used to be locked in as a child while her mother, Eliza, and her lover played sick games with her. They have her again now, and they want the games to continue.
