Still working as a maid at the Penmarrow Hotel, she's working once again to steer her dream of being a published novelist back on track, much as she's been doing for her personal life as well. A phone call from an old friend, however, strikes an unexpected blow to her emotional recovery.
Fast forward a few months ahead: she's taking a London flat part time at the suggestion of her literary agent Arnold for her book's debut. London is new territory—Dean is the close-by friend she's been avoiding for obvious reasons—and Alex is cropping up at unexpected moments, just when she thinks the city is too big for such coincidences. Whether she can be friends with him after all that has happened is still uncertain.
How do you be friends with a stranger whom you love? She may not be any closer to the answer than when she said goodbye.
