So I give her the best deep freeze I can muster while I build bigger walls around my heart.
Then she starts chipping away at my hard exterior. In order to let her in, I’ll have to trust her.
And I’m not sure I could survive it if she left me again...
4. Bender - When I moved from Italy to play for the Vegas Venom, it was a dream come true. My parents died when I was young, and I thought that being part of the team would be like being a part of a family.
I was wrong.
It turns out that I’m on thin ice. With everyone, really, but especially with Madison McKay.
Madison has lived rent free in my head since I met her at a photo shoot and I accidentally insulted her. She’s a curvy goddess, but when I fumbled over my words she didn’t let me dig myself out of the hole I created.
It doesn’t help that my so-called friends like to tease me, purposely leading me down the wrong road. Or that my roommate is a grumpy veteran player who only speaks in three word sentences.
Now that Madison is in Las Vegas full time, I figure it’s my second chance.
When I look at her, I already see our future together. She’s mine. I just have to convince her that I’m worth another look.
But I’m about to have to convince her of a whole lot more.
When the Venom release me from the team I’m faced with a decision. I either have to return to Italy or figure out a way to stay in the states…legally.
Will Madison take a chance on forever with me or will I be heading back to my homeland alone?
5. Dangler - My future is planned, and it doesn't include a relationship.
The last one destroyed me. I was in love...but she was in love with my money. So, I'm done with that.
Instead, I'm throwing my energy into mentoring the younger players on the team and planning for the end of my NHL career. Since I only speak in three word sentences, my next move is going to shock everyone.
Once I hang my skates up, I want to be a full-time country singer/songwriter. No one knows that I write music and perform, but I'm cocky enough to know it’ll happen. I’ve got the talent. I’ve got the drive. Nothing is going to stand in my way.
Until a freak accident on the ice causes enough damage that I lose my voice. I don't know if I'll be able to talk....let alone sing, again.
It's in physical therapy where I meet her. Kingsley. She's the best therapist around and if anyone can get me singing again, it's her. But the more time I spend with her, the more I have to remind myself of my no-relationships rule.
And when I enter a songwriting contest, it turns out, Kingsley has entered too.
Now crushes don’t matter. She's my competition.
And I have a new rule: Don’t get close to Kingsley and my heart won’t get broken.
6. Sniper - She's exactly who I was warned about.
I know I shouldn't get involved with Delilah. She's gorgeous, has a voice like a siren and her night job requires her to use both of those attributes to talk men out of their money.
A job she's very good at.
I have a few goals and keeping my money....mine....is one of them.
Call it a leftover insecurity from my childhood in-and-out of foster homes. Another is to stay on the team. I may have a shot that kills, but I'm still the rookie on the Vegas Venom and I have to prove myself.
I can't afford a distraction...and wow is she distracting.
She claims it's just a job-one she's using until her singing career takes off. But when she gets a break, I'm terrified that she's also using me as a launching pad for her success.
My trust issues would be better suited with someone less bright, bold and magnetic. But I can't help that funny feeling I get everytime I look at her. And we can't seem to keep our hands and lips to ourselves whenever we're together.
Can I learn to believe that her intentions are good? Or will I finally push her away and lose everything that matters?
