1. The Heavier the Chains...: Kenzlee
Raised in a fairyland of the rich and privileged, Kenzlee Mitchell had the perfect life. Though her parents were absent and neglectful, her twin brother wasn’t. With more money than any teenager needed, freedom to do whatever she wanted, and a brother who supported her fully, it was easy to forget that there were people all around the world who didn’t have it as easily as she did.
When Kenzlee’s brother dies of an overdose, Kenzlee’s entire world is shaken to its core. Forced to re-evaluate what’s important in life, Kenzlee slowly becomes quiet and withdrawn. Now she spends more time with her household staff, rather than her spoiled, rich, entitled friends. However, just as Kenzlee begins to adjust to her new life, tragedy strikes again, leaving her to pick up the pieces again.
2. The Heavier the Doubt…: Alexandria
Raised by loving parents, Alexandria Grant didn’t have any complaints in life. Though she wasn’t rich by any means, she’d still had an idyllic childhood, and she had never wanted for anything. Popular and smart, school had also been another blessing in her life. She’d never had to suffer any academic struggles or endure any bullying. In short, life was good.
When Alexandria gets accepted into college, it opens up a whole new world for her, and she can’t wait. Though intimidated by the new experience, it’s still not enough to send her running scared. Determined to make her parents proud, the plan was to stay on track to getting a degree and making the most of the blessings that she’d been afforded. However, best-laid plans were stupid.
Hunter
Raised to appreciate how things didn’t always come easily in life, Hunter Finley was a lot wiser than his age gave him credit for. Nevertheless, he was lucky enough to have good, hard-working, supportive parents, and his younger brother was his best friend. Growing up on the wrong side of the tracks, things could have been worse, something that too many people knew firsthand.
3. The Heavier the Guilt...: Edie
Raised by the best brother in the world, Edie Draven’s life could have turned out very differently if not for her family. Though considered poor, Edie hadn’t ever felt that way. Her mother worked lots of jobs to keep a roof over their heads, and her brother had made countless sacrifices to secure a solid future for her; one that she wouldn’t have had otherwise. So, yeah, she was very blessed, and she knew it.
When Edie’s senior year of high school finally comes along, it’s the first time that she doesn’t have her brother at her side. Though excited about her newfound freedom, it still takes a lot of getting used to. Her sudden popularity with guys is another thing that takes a lot of getting used to, but since she’s not naïve or boy crazy, she’s got it all under control. Or at least, she thought she did.
