Overview: My name is Joshua Guess. I used to have one of those impersonal third-person biographies here. I thought it would be a nice change of pace to just say hello and tell you a bit about myself. Let's see...I wrote Living With the Dead, which is probably how you found my author page. LWtD was a serialized tale set in the zombie apocalypse. It's a little different from most zombie fiction in that it's told in real time and in blog format. Which means that you got a literal day-by-day look into the lives of people working to survive and rebuild in a world destroyed by the dead. In March of 2013 I went full-time as a novelist. Since then I have published three novels--Victim Zero, Dead Will Rise, and Next--and have many more planned for the near future.

In the early days after causing the end of the world, Kell McDonald was just trying to survive. Time passed, and along with others, a new world grew. Society began to be rebuilt. Years have passed since the mutated organism known as Chimera caused the dead to rise, and on the ashes of the old world, terrifying new forces have come into play. No longer simple mindless beasts, some of the undead have evolved, becoming stronger, smarter, and more dangerous than ever. They are nothing compared to the looming storm of living people, however, as a nation of starving men and women descend on Kell's new home to threaten everything he has grown to love.

Kell McDonald believed his fight was over. A year after settling with his closest friends in a secluded community, his research into a cure for the plague that ended the world has ground to a halt. When news arrives pointing toward a potential breakthrough, Kell doesn't hesitate. The key to solving the riddle of the Chimera plague might rest in the cells of a small group of people. Unfortunately, he isn't the only one looking for them.

Five years have passed since the collapse of civilization. The dead still walk the land, but humanity has proved itself strong and resilient. Large settlements have begun to trade, manufacture, and rebuild what was lost. Kell McDonald and his friends continue to work in isolation. Their small community, composed of people who have lost more than most, exists for the sole purpose of providing a safe space for the creation the cure to end the zombie plague forever. When soldiers in black appear, those carefully laid plans are burned to ash.
