When a new case quite literally falls at Rex's feet, he teams up with his neighbour and associate Kendra Nai, an ex-army sergeant recently dismissed, to investigate. In the wake of some startling discoveries about those closest to him, the life of young detective Caecilius Rex is about to get a whole lot more complicated. "Their plan is set and it is simple: hold out for as long as possible and try not to die."
In this, the final instalment in the Caecilius Rex saga, the young detective and his ally Kendra Nai return to her home base at Lachrymosa: the location that promises to shed light on the workings of the evil crime magnate The Face.
Also lurking in the smoky shadows of the military mountainside is Julius Cadinsky, a scientist with an awful lot to answer for. What new secrets and lies will Cae uncover at the very end of his investigation?
Will he even survive to unravel them all?
