Linda Kay Daniels Adventures by Rowena Tulley (Linda Kay Daniels Adventures #2 ~ 6)
Requirements: .ePUB or .AZW3 reader, 3.51 mb.
Overview: Rowena Tulley is a degreed scientist and engineer, and has worked in the nuclear engineering field for over thirty years (and has the grey hairs to prove it). With this background, she lives in morbid fear that a smart reader will spot errors in the realism she attempts to infuse into her stories. As someone who does a large amount of technical writing and editing, she also cringes at the thought that a knowledgeable reader will spot spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors in her works. Oh well, it happens. Ms. Tulley resides with her family in the lovely little town of Aiken, South Carolina.
Genre: Science Fiction

2 ~ Lost Colonies: Lost Colonies continues the story of Linda Kay Daniels, a young officer in the United States Space Service. She finally has her dream billet-Engineering duty on a Faster-Than-Light interstellar exploration ship. However, dreams are unpredictable, and sometimes they turn into nightmares . . .
Five colony ships left Earth over 40 years earlier to escape the wars, terrorism, and religious conflicts that plagued the world. Intent on setting up perfect societies in nearby solar systems, no word from the colonies was ever received. Daniels and her ship Magellan are ordered to search for the five colonies. Only their skills, their training, and their ingenuity (with Officer Daniels heavily involved) allow them deal with what they discover.

3 ~ Infiltration: Lieutenant Linda Kay Daniels thought she was going to be able to settle down into a dull routine in the orbiting shipyard, playing a role in the construction and testing of the Athena. Athena was the first of a class of dreadnoughts, huge battleships originally designed to fight the privateers that roamed the asteroid belt. With the peace treaties signed after the Venus Rising affair, most privateers quit their criminal activities. Athena was no longer needed, so it was consigned to mothball status. After the episode with the Lost Colonies, the threat of an alien attack became a real possibility, so construction of Athena resumed. Yes, Lieutenant Daniels was ready for a dull routine. However, Linda Kay would once again be forced into saving Earth while trying to save her own life...

3.5 ~ Odd Jobs: Lieutenant Linda Kay Daniels had been warned by Admiral Temple, Chief of Naval Operations, that she might be called upon to do various assignments from time to time. All she wanted to be was an engineer—seeing to the construction, testing, and subsequent commissioning of Athena, Earth's newest and most powerful warship. However, Admiral Temple and others knew of her unique skill set, and would call upon her for help. It's what happens after saving Earth a couple of times—people think you can do the impossible.
This collection is considered Book 3.5 of the series. Some of these short stories pertain to the overall storyline of Linda Kay's career, while others are somewhat whimsical. The time frame of these stories is during Linda Kay's stint in the orbiting shipyard while Athena is undergoing construction and testing. Some of the short stories allude to earlier events, so it is recommended that you read Books 1-3 of the series first. Book 4 ("Juggernaut") does not depend on readers having read these short stories, but they contain some background events that would enhance Book 4.

4 ~ Juggernaut: If your career took off in an unexpected direction, would you fight the change, or would you go with the flow? If your duty and honor came in conflict with your faith and self-respect, would you play the victim and withdraw from the struggle, or would you navigate a path that resolves the conflict? If an alien planet wanted to conquer Earth, would you destroy the alien world, or would you help save the alien planet if that was the best way to save your own world? For Lieutenant Linda Kay Daniels, answering these questions won't be easy...

5 ~ Extermination: Lieutenant Commander Linda Kay Blather has almost everything she ever dreamed of—a teaching career, a research career that will lead to a PhD, and a loving husband (who just happens to be President of the United States). All she needs now is to start a family, and she'll be completely happy. Or will she? A cry for help from the SuperInts will interrupt her life, putting it on hold while she once again returns to space—not only to save SuperInts, but Earth as well.

6 ~ Ring of Fire: Annika Blather is nothing like her mother. She is promiscuous, incestuous, foul-mouthed, self-centered—the polar opposite of Linda Kay Daniels Blather—or is she? After Annika graduates from the Space Academy Preparatory School, she has a decision to make. Does she attend the United States Space Academy, or does she simply wander off and squander her inheritance? She initially chooses the latter, but mysterious earthquakes on Earth force her to change her plans, and become the savior of Earth that her mother always was. But she cannot do it alone...
