Overview: 2778: A Cosmic Absurdity is a another helping of golden age 1960s sci fi laced with modern satire and will appeal to anyone who enjoys Douglas Adams, Doctor Who or Dilbert.
Captain Butch Matalan is a man with hopes and dreams. He also has a crew consisting of Penny (armed, dangerous, not to be messed with), John (insane, rambling, not to be talked to) and Fingers (alien, skilled, not to be ignored just because he's short and grey). Together they are trapped on the other side of the universe, all alone in the night.
Together they must tackle segregation on an alien world, romantic misadventures in Tudor England, invasion by murderous reptiles and a vision of what might've happened had they made different choices in their lives.
Butch's core philosophy chart says that everyone has useful skills if they are properly managed. Certainly Butch's idealism, Penny's brawn and Fingers' mechanical abilities can all save the day but will John's madness ever prove useful?
This laugh out loud comic sci fi series continues on from 2777: A Space Oddity and 2777: A Christmas Oddity and will appeal to anyone who enjoys the sillier side of television science fiction.
