Overview: AlphaD didn’t understand why its adoring owner would decapitate him with a samurai sword, short-circuiting and causing total damage to its central processor.
The story began 10 years ago. When Google’s artificial intelligent player AlphaGo beat Korean player Lee Sedol 4 to 1, people thought AI would soon defeat all top-ranking professional Go players and reach a milestone in the development of AI, that AI would have an absolute advantage in defeating humans when it came to complex mathematical strategies. But in 2017, a dark horse surprised everyone: an amateur Japanese player, foreign to any professional matches, declared his intention to challenge AlphaGo.
As fantastic as the humans vs. AI battle was, with a vivid plot Hollywood would be proud of, this storyline eventually fell into obscurity thanks to fickle human memory.
But someone paid more attention to this than most.
This person created the first, primitive version of AlphaD.
