#5 - Throne of Ruins
After joining herself in marriage to Kest in order to save her son, Mandhi returns to Amur with her new Kaleksha family. She's hoping to find a place of peace, but instead she find her home riven by war. The Mouth of the Devourer has uprooted the Emperor and ravages the north of Amur, and the Emperor Sadja attempts to entrap Mandhi in his schemes to reclaim the capital. She must decide whether the threat of the Devoured is important enough to make her cooperate with Sadja despite his past betrayal.
Amidst this turmoil, the ancient book which the thikratta saved from Ternas finally begins to yield its secrets. But they are secrets that few want to hear, and their revelations will force Navran, Mandhi, and Sadja to confront the strife that divided Amur in the shadowy years of its earliest history.
#6 - Fire of Ages
The last alliance is shattered. The Emperor's body lies in the dust of the battlefield, and the Mouth of the Devourer marches unchallenged towards the holy city of Virnas. There is nothing left to do except run.
Navran escapes with a few others and heads south, hoping to find a place where they can make a last stand. They leave behind the temples and palaces of Virnas to reach the last free city of Amur---but will it be any more than a temporary respite? The Devoured are on their heels, and no wall in Amur has stopped them yet.
Mandhi and her companions flee in a different direction, in hopes of reaching Kalignas where the Mouth of the Devourer will not follow them. But along the way, they meet a strange slave woman, fleeing from the Mouth of the Devourer for reasons of her own. Her past will ensure that none of them avoid the Devourer's wrath.
And as the hour of destruction draws near, the Book of the Powers gives up its final secret.
