The New Earth Chronicles (1-5, 7) by J. J. Thompson
Requirements: ePUB / MOBI /AZW Reader, 9.0MB
Overview: My early inspirations were J. R. R. Tolkien, Andre Norton, Piers Anthony and a long list of other amazing fantasy and sci-fi writers, and I have many fond memories of their work. Like those authors, I have always aspired to create exciting worlds inhabited by people that I care about, and who I hope my readers will care about as well.
Genre: Fiction; Fantasy

#1 - The First Paladin
Ten years ago, the modern world as we know it was destroyed. Dark forces from the Void sent dragons to the Earth, and these ancient, evil creatures devastated human civilization. The population was all but wiped out, and the few survivors were Changed by the magic that the dragons reintroduced into the world.

But from the ashes, heroes were born; people granted special abilities by the lords of Light to fight back against the darkness. And one of these heroes was a woman named Liliana Travnikov.

Born and raised in Russia, Liliana was a middle-aged grandmother when her world was erased in a tide of fire and blood. She managed to survive and fled into the countryside, pursued by hordes of horrific monsters. She was sure that she would die, as her family had before her, but instead she was blessed by a mysterious stranger and granted youth, and the power to take the fight to the dragons and their masters.

This is the story of how it began, and of how Liliana became the first paladin.

#2 - The Changlings
It has been ten years since the return of the dragons and the fall of mankind. Many things have changed since then and humanity is teetering on the brink of extinction.

But back before any of that happened, something else had begun. Random children from all around the globe had started changing, mutating in strange ways, and neither scientists nor doctors could explain why.

Some children grew extra fingers and toes. Or claws instead of fingernails. Scales or fur instead of bare skin. Vestigial tails or wings. The mutations seemed endless, and totally random.

These special children came to be known as Changlings. Many governments had them rounded up 'for their own protection' and taken to special laboratories to be experimented on. And then technology had failed, anarchy reigned briefly and the dragons came back to destroy civilization in a wave of fire and blood.

But some of the Changlings survived. It turned out that their mutations hadn't been random after all. They had been caused by magic. And so these children were ideally suited to live and thrive on the New Earth. This is a tale of one particular group of special children, who lived in what remained of the city of Ottawa and of how the world forced them to grow up, step out of the shadows and claim their destiny.

#3 - The Werewolves of Nottinghill
A decade has passed since the world of technology and science fell. Magical energy engulfed the planet and rendered humanity's greatest weapons and defense systems useless. As machines shut down and infrastructures ground to a halt, hordes of ancient dragons returned to the Earth and decimated mankind. Cities fell, billions died and countries were swept away into the dustbin of history. The age of magic and monsters had begun again. And yet, some people survived. Blessed for some unknown reason by the remote lords of Light, a few humans Changed and adapted. Their bodies were altered to allow them to function in an atmosphere thick with magical energy.

And a select few became something more. Something extraordinary. Mages were created. Wizards walked the Earth again. Paladins, rangers and heroic warriors rose to defend the handful of human survivors against the dragons and monsters that now threatened them. Among those who changed were two young men named Malcolm Deschamps and Aiden Shen. Both of them were raised in the same small town. Both of them Changed and were gifted with extraordinary strength and dexterity. They gained remarkable skills with both weapons and tactics and together they used those gifts to protect others. And then, while out on patrol, both men were bitten and infected by a werewolf. This is the tale of Malcolm and Aiden. It is the story of their struggle to control their bestial natures while defending one of the last bastions of humanity, Nottinghill Castle.

#4- The Dwarven Rebellion
Deep below the surface of the world, the empire of the dwarves has endured for countless centuries. A fierce and proud people, they have thrived for thousands of years surrounded by dangers more horrible than most humans could even imagine.

Ancient evils that stalk the deep, dark caverns with insatiable hunger. Evil creatures that defy description. Massive predators that tunnel through solid rock and spring on the unwary. The dwarves have stood against all of these foes and many more and they have prevailed.

But now the dwarven race is in decline and their ancient civilization is crumbling slowly into dust. But why? Is it because of the ages that have come and gone and the weight of the years pressing down on them, slowly grinding the life out of the empire? Or is it the corruption that lies at the heart of dwarven society itself? In recent memory, a succession of rulers have taken the throne through betrayal and greed and left the populace cynical and disheartened. An empire is only as strong as the person who rules it, or so the saying goes. And for centuries, the crown has been worn by weak and ineffective kings and queens.

Now though, the crown rests firmly on the head of a new king. And this ruler is different from the many that have come before him in recent memory. He was no pampered prince or traitorous noble. Instead, this dwarf was a simple warrior for many years and content to remain so. It was only when the old king was murdered, and his heir as well, that his youngest son reluctantly took the throne. His name is Shandon Ironhand.

Shandon has ruled well enough for a handful of years, but his plans to revitalize the empire are already in jeopardy. Rumors of traitors plotting to take his throne are swirling around him. There are even whispers of dark magics threatening his reign. Can the young king save himself and his people from those who would destroy them? Can he stop the decay and decline of the dwarves and raise them up again to become the proud, strong race they had once been? That is the test that lies ahead.

And it is the story of how mankind might gain new allies against the Darkness and of what part our heroes may play in cementing those alliances. Or in destroying them.

#5 - The Fall of the Elves
The home world of the elves is known as Trillfarness. It was created millennia ago for the elvish race by the lords of Light as a safe haven when they were threatened by the ancient gods of Chaos. Hidden away from the mortal realms, the elves were safe from evil. They lived in harmony with nature, far from the conflicts that plagued the Earth. But now something has changed. Trillfarness has come closer to the plane of Earth than it has ever been and some elves fear that the old evil gods have found them once again. Darkness is stirring in remote corners of their planet and the peaceful elves are threatened. But their race hasn't known war for ages uncounted. Can they stand against the old gods who seek to wipe out their kind? Or will they fall and be lost in the dust of history?

#7 - The Last Battle for New Earth
Twenty years had passed since the old Earth was destroyed by the returning dragons and the human race was almost wiped out. But those few who had survived had only grown stronger over time. Nottinghill Castle still stood resolute against attacks by goblins and monsters alike.

The handful of elves who had retreated to the New Earth from their lost world now lived in the town of Caladur in New Zealand. Their numbers were few, but they and the humans had become allies and trade between the races had begun.

And of course the dwarves endured. Their mighty empire deep beneath the surface of the world thrived and they too counted the humans and elves as friends.

Life was good. Yes, the planet was inhabited by horrible monsters and strange, wondrous beasts, but to the remnants of the human race, such things were now almost normal.

Sadly, this respite could not last. The Chaos lords trapped in the Void still sought to return and rule over the universe. Their goblin hordes were growing in size and strength and they threatened to overwhelm the mortal races. Something had to be done to stop them. The humans, elves and dwarves would have to combine their forces and destroy the goblins once and for all. With them gone, the three races could finally look toward the future with hope.

But things on the New Earth are never quite as simple as they seem to be and the goblin tribes were not the only threat to the survivors. Something had been waiting in the shadows. Sly. Cunning. Evil. It had bided its time and nursed its hatred for the human race as its strength grew over many years. And with the mortal races now focused solely on defeating the goblins, this was the chance it had been waiting for. Now was time to strike.
