But when a mysterious distress signal arrives from Earth, Jessil is desperate to discover who sent it. She and Soraj join the reconnaissance team that descends to the planet, a world very different from the one they knew. In such a strange land, can their search-and-rescue effort succeed? And if it does, will it mean failure for Earth’s recovery?
The Remnants #2: In the early days of New Dakota's re-settlement, Jessil and Soraj find themselves assigned to a program designed to ensure the survival of their fledgling colony--but the program will exact a toll neither is ready to pay.
To help them escape participation, they seek the help of Captain Monumba, who has been stripped of her powers. Can the trio make a fresh start in the wilds beyond the settlement? Or will their chances be threatened by a plot set in motion before the nuclear holocaust even began?
The Extant #3: Despite threats throughout New Dakota and in the deadlands beyond, Jessil and Soraj are hopeful for a fresh start on Earth. But when an unforeseen catastrophe destroys any chance for that future, a migration from Earth to Mars becomes the only viable alternative for survival.
Yet the window for launching to Mars is closing fast. Will they be able to overcome obstacles from both man and monster to reach the escape vessel in time? Or is humanity finally doomed to fail?
