Overview: The tyrannical usurper Velragen has fallen and the shadow of the Seed of Evil no longer covers the land of Altimecia, but for Varim and the people of the Asterian Empire, their troubles are only just beginning.
A stable connection has been formed between the continents of Altimecia and America, linking the two worlds and tying their fates together. The United States government, after watching their country endure a series of brutal terrorist attacks orchestrated by agents of Velragen, and having been deceived and used by his regime, have become angry and distrustful of the people of the Asterian Empire, and all those who live in Varim’s world.
Driven by an angry and fearful populace, and with flames of vengeance burning in their hearts, the US government sends a military force through the gateway between worlds to the already ravaged imperial capital of Kouryuu intending to subjugate its people and seize control of the Asterian Empire and all of Altimecia.
Unable to resist the might of the US army, Varim and his comrades are forced into a desperate flight from the imperial city, during which Varim is critically injured. With seemingly no other choice, the mighty but inscrutable sorceress Astraea makes the decision to allow the party to be captured by American soldiers and brought back to Earth as prisoners, ostensibly so that Varim can receive the medical treatment he needs.
Trapped in a foreign country in the midst of an alien world, Varim and his friends must somehow find a way to persuade the leaders of the United States not to enslave his homeland. Yet even as he struggles for peace in the face of fear and prejudice, sinister forces move in the shadows of both worlds.
The Alchemist Rensei, a dark Dragon Sage who organised and led the terrorist incursions into America at the behest of Velragen and who sacrificed countless innocents to complete the Seed of Evil’s resurrection and establish the gate between worlds has launched his own insidious plan, one which poses a dire threat to both worlds. Garen, long-time friend of Amarei, the beautiful half Li’Fae who saved Varim’s life, has become consumed by jealousy as a result of Amarei’s growing affection for Varim and has been caught up in Rensei’s sinister scheme.
Meanwhile, the Chinese government has been working on their own gateway into Varim’s world, backed by a sinister figure across the sea from the Asterian Empire, on the continent of Erindae.
With the threat of all-out war between the two worlds looming in the background, Varim and his comrades must somehow find a way to foil Rensei’s terrible plot and save both worlds from a dreadful fate. But there are hidden truths lurking in the shadows, waiting to be exposed. The bonds of friendship between Varim and his comrades will be tested in a way they never have before.
And all the while, Astraea, the wise and beautiful sorceress whose aid was instrumental in bringing down Velragen and saving all of Altimecia is working on her own plans…plans to reclaim her rightful place as the Divine Empress…
