Overview: The bottom just dropped out for Kaylynn O’Rourke.
Again.
Kaylynn grew up leading a traditional suburban lifestyle in which she always did what was expected of her. She thought she’d finally lost it when she discovered that she was a Glasswalker. Now, a few years later, she’s embraced her abilities and found a home among her fellow teleporting, skyrunning guardians.
Adopting the traditions and values of the Glasswalkers as her own quickly ingratiated her to their leaders. She earned an esteemed place within their Council as an investigative field agent, and drew her strength and confidence from being part of the unified whole.
Until suddenly it wasn’t as unified as it seemed.
In the midst of an assignment to recover a lost artifact of her people, while avoiding being destroyed by its curse, she finds out that her chosen family has a dirty little secret that stands at odds with everything she had come to know and believe about them. Her perspective is abruptly skewed so that she can no longer tell who is an ally and who is an enemy. For perhaps the first time in her life, she stands alone with her convictions and finds herself unwilling to compromise.
To do what she knows is right, she’s forced to take a risk and trust the one person she knows she can’t. Her one-time mentor, sometimes lover, Darren Valenta, compromises himself for no one in pursuit of his perpetually self-serving goals. The horrible irony Kaylynn must face is that this same self-serving attitude, which once nearly got her killed, is now the only thing she can rely on in her plan to defy the Glasswalkers.
