The Girl from the Moon by Maria Beta (The Elemental Tides #1)

Overview: Cate Weelah was born in Jupiter's moon Europa. When she was 8 years old, her father Steban decided to return to Earth with his wife Paula and two step-daughters, Victoria and Cate, and never went back. Steban was one of the creators of the Aurean Shield and one of the most famous scientists of the world. In Earth the ozone layer was gone and the only way to survive was to cover the planet with the Shield.
While in her teens, Cate was in a tragic crash, and the North American Alliance or NAA tried to blame it on her. That was the day she realized she was different - an Alliafied. The whole world became aware of it, thus people avoided her, and she avoided them. That was how days became gray or dark purple as sometimes was the sky above her.
Victoria would unconditionally stand by her, she was an Alliafied as well, but didn't understand either what it meant. But that was until they met the Phelaries: Kanio and Nnox.
The Phelaries believed humans were not to be trusted, always disrespecting their own promises, and setting their own planet on a path of decay; yet they wanted to learn about them and what relationships were, and about Cate... because she belonged with them.
