Over One Year Ago. Planet Earth.
Mike ran down the stairs and poked his head in the direction of the coffee pot. He looked over at his wife and yelled, “Why didn’t you throw a pot on? You knew I was running late.” Then he turned toward the living room where his three kids were eating bowls of cereal in front of the morning cartoons. “Susan, I don’t have time to take the kids to school, you’re gonna have to do it.”
She raised her hands in frustration. “You know I don’t have time, and this is your day. It’s not my fault that you woke up late. I have to be at the base in twenty minutes.”
Mike walked back to the kitchen and grabbed a not entirely ripe banana and then flung his jacket over his shoulder. As he opened the front door, he hollered out, “I’ll see you tonight … hopefully you’ll have dinner ready.” He slammed the door behind him. Susan took a couple of deep breaths then walked out toward the garage and shook her head as she watched the tires peel out in the driveway.
Later in the day. Planet Krevleer.
“What the … w h e r e a m I?” Mike looked back and forth and didn’t recognize a single thing around him. He was surrounded by tall pine trees, and the sound of a running stream shimmered off in the distance. The air was cool, and his heart began to pound as he desperately tried to recollect his last activity.
“All I remember was getting in an argument with Susan. I don’t remember going out drinking last night, but I musta had quite a few. How did I get here? Where am I?”
The Modranite Invasion (#1)

Centuries of mystery surrounds the back side of Krevleer ... AKA the forbidden land. Susan only has a few days left on Krevleer. The planet’s survival depends on her taking an unexpected partner on a journey to receive a gift from the forbidden land. No one has ever made it to this part of the planet and survived. Will she?
