The Zemlya Chronicles by Cameron O'Neill (#1-2)

Overview: Cameron ONeill was born in Sydney, Australia, in the heady 1980s. From there he attended a number of schools, most of them great, before graduating with a BSc in Physics. Upon finding that this was no way to earn a living, he moved into theatre and broadcasting; a career that has sent him around the world - including moving to Tokyo in 2015 and picking us a Master's degree along the way. During that time he also worked on Katawa Shoujo, one of the most successful English Visual Novels. Since then he has moved into writing Science Fiction.

1. The Zemlya Conspiracy
Zemlya is an isolated city, surrounded by an impassable tundra. The city is protected from the elements by a giant wall, and defended by cybernetically enhanced soldiers that make sure that no-one leaves the city. Many have tried but none survive.
Kate is one of these agents, and is recalled from patrolling the tundra to investigate a rebellion within the city originating in an abandoned industrial area. The rebels are treated as capital offenders and summarily executed. When flushing out a small cell she finds that they have recruited a young girl, who Kate refuses to kill.
Kate is then given orders to try to infiltrate the rebels, but her communication is cut off from headquarters. Following her judgment alone, she begins to sympathise with the young girl she spared and her confederates. Knowing she needs to hide her identity from her new friends whilst trying to stay loyal to the city's central government, Kate toes the moral line between good and bad.
2. The Zemlya Confederacy
What does it mean to escape? If you are to break free from your confines only to find yourself lost and alone in a strange world, have you really escaped? Within the broken walls of Zemlya, new alliances are formed as others are shattered. The rules are simple; those in power live. Those that fall out of favour are deleted.
On the horizon, a storm is brewing. Whilst internal fighting is sapping the reserves of the icy city of Zemlya, some new enemy approaches. One for which they are not prepared.
