1. Taken by Time
In 2033 Marcus was a shallow and narrow minded fourteen-year-old boy who let fear dominate his life and decisions. On a trip to Brazil these traits are what lead to him being transported in time to pre-historic South America.

The people Marcus meets are barely more advanced than stone age cave men, but their way of life, while at first crude to Marcus, quickly proves itself to be commendable and fulfilling. Unfortunately for Marcus he has arrived at the start of a civil war in a land that has only known peace. The force behind the growing bloodshed is a despondent supernatural being bent on ruining the order of creation as revenge for his ostracism.

None of this is much concern to a boy who only wants to return home until he is commissioned by an ancient magic to save mankind. Unfortunately, the oracle is often misunderstood. Marcus quickly finds other deities are involved in the struggle on Earth, and that he personally is a target. The death of many of those closest to him force Marcus to become inextricably immersed in a struggle beyond his imagination. Marcus is forced to confront the horrors of ancient warfare, a dragon, a mysterious grey clad assassin, and the embodiment of his own fears. A pair of natives his own age and a stoic mentor aid Marcus in his physical and emotional journey. Just when he believes he has fulfilled his duty to save the planet, he learns he has only delayed the inevitable.

Marcus true quest goes far beyond anything he imagined, as he seeks to help mankind fulfil its true destiny. Even if that is at the cost of all he holds most dear, including the very things which make him human.

After ‘Taken by Time’ from modern Brazil and his adventures in pre-historic South America, Marcus finds that his adventure and quest to save humanity is not over. Encountering mythological creatures and following an ancient guide Marcus finds himself in bronze-age Asia at the height of the Shang Dynasty and the invention of writing. Marcus will need all his friends and a level head to save his friends, the Kingdom, and all of humanity. Unfortunately for the young adventurers each time they achieve an apparent victory they find themselves up against new foes. The boy threw the clod of dirt that had rested at his feet against the stone face side of the mountain and watched the dirt fragment eruption that reflected the anger born of his feelings of weariness and aggravation. The dirt fell to the ground where it had begun; the boy’s act of anger changing nothing. “What the hell are we doing here!? How are we on some quest to save Earth, without a clue where to go, without any directions... we don’t even know where we are!” the boy’s voice reflected equal parts exasperation and frustration. His two companions, a twin boy and girl about his age looked on, annoyed at his outbursts.

“Roquen know where. On Amlug mountain. But no Amlug,” a boy with dark red skin referred to himself in the third person as he stared into the distance, his voice trailing off. He was clearly thinking of the dragon from whom they had just escaped by traveling through time. The other two could feel his disappointment at the beast’s absence, without understanding it.

“We know where, but we don’t know when. But that’s not really our goal. We need to figure out what we are supposed to do here to save Earth,” said his equally red twin sister. Her brother spoke again, but with urgency in his voice as he pointed. “Save from that?” He now had the angry boy’s attention, as well as his sister’s, and the two stared into the distance in the direction of his pointing finger. Something was coming quickly up the mountain.“It looks like a huge mountain goat…” said the first boy clenching another dirt clod.“Marcus, I don’t know what a mountain goat is,” the girl retorted.“Layen no know something?” Roquen asked with a teasing smile.“Does it have bigger teeth than rau?” Layen asked, ignoring her brother. Marcus, who had been throwing dirt clods, had thought it was a huge mountain goat, but after seeing the size and shape of the teeth, he knew that could not be. The creature’s legs certainly resembled those of a goat, and the creature bounded up the mountain like a goat, but that was where the similarity ended. The siblings, who had never seen a mountain goat, were more focused on the oversized jaguar head. Though still far away, it was moving toward them rapidly. “No, mountain goats don’t have teeth like that at all. What is that thing...?” Marcus wondered aloud.“Marcus find out soon,” Roquen observed. “Maybe throw rock at it. Softer than mountain.” Marcus was too concerned about the size of the creature and the speed with which it was approaching to appreciate his friend’s rebuke. In a few moments, it would reach the trio, and there was no denying they were its target.“It looks like there is a snake riding on it also.

We had better get ready because it's coming for us. Quick, Roquen, grab a few more rocks, maybe we can scare it away,” said the pragmatic girl.“I don’t think it will be very scared of us,” Marcus pointed out, his voice betraying a bit of fear as he tossed away the dirt clod and picked up two fist-sized rocks.“Does goat taste good?” Roquen’s voice was full of excitement and lacked his friend’s fear. His sister knew he relished a chance to take action after sitting around plotting.“Here it comes!” Marcus shouted. The chimera had climbed just above them and now leaped down directly facing the trio.“Don’t throw anything yet! Maybe it doesn’t want to hurt us.”The creature roared in reply.
