All Kyr ever wanted was to become a peaceful shaman in service to the Sevenfold Empire. #2 - Lose the witch, lose the world.
When young King Kyr makes a desperate gamble to liberate the Lapis Scarab from the corrupted ruins of Amankala, he soon discovers that the ancient city holds greater dangers than he'd ever imagined. With unexpected enemies rising on every side, Kyr must advance his core to protect his people and save the mysterious witch.
Because Amankala is much more than it appears, and if Kyr fails to defeat its fearsome inhabitants, the world will be lost to the Midnight Emperor.

Kyr's efforts to rebuild his territories have attracted all the wrong kinds of attention. Refugees are pouring into his conquered kingdoms, while his enemies have gathered their forces to strike at the very heart of his power. All Kyr wants is to heal the world, but he's discovered there's a lot more to being a king than killing his rivals and saving witches.
As the Midnight Emperor marches toward a final confrontation, Kyr must race to gather an army before he and his people are annihilated. But to get the troops he needs, Kyr must contend with a feral shapeshifter's deadly pack, a wily King, and the cult of a rogue goddess. To save everything he holds dear, Kyr must risk everthing on one desperate gamble after another.
Because, if he fails, the Midnight Emperor will enslave Kyr, his witches, and everyone who depends on them.
