Wrak-Ayya: The Age of Shadows series by Leigh Roberts (#1,3,5-7,10)

Overview: When Leigh Roberts is not caught up in the fantasy world of Etera with Adia, Khon'Tor, Acaraho, Oh’Dar, and Nadiwani, she is enjoying the beauty of the rural area in which she lives. An avid reader since early childhood, she grew up on superhero comics, science fiction stories (Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov), and television shows like The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, and Star Trek. Star Trek had a huge influence on her thinking and taught her the infinite possibilities of imagination—and how to split infinitives. Spoiler alert: you may find a Klingon word or phrase dropped in here or there. She loves being an author, and her heart’s desire is to be writing for a long, long time to come.

1. Khon'Tor's Wrath
What If...everything we believed about human history was wrong? What if, a long time ago, in order to avoid extinction, an ancient population of Sasquatch interbred with the humans? And what if...this community repopulated, and lived undiscovered in peace and harmony with all creation for generations—until a compassionate act of a young Healer set it all on end? Gifted, beautiful Adia wants only to serve her community and fulfill her responsibilities to the weak, sick, and helpless. The Leader, Khon’Tor, rules with a clenched fist and demands obedience to himself and to the sacred laws established by the Ancients ages ago. Coming across an abandoned infant, the Healer Adia rescues a forbidden Outsider child and brings it back to their underground home, Kthama. When the Leader returns from a council meeting and finds what she has done, he takes her compassionate act as an affront to his authority—a threat to the People's welfare. Two leaders—locked in conflict over a forbidden child. She was prepared for him to be angry. She was prepared for him to punish her. But she was not prepared for Khon'Tor's Wrath.
3. Oh'Dar's Quest
What if...under the protective care of the Healer, the only mother he has ever known, the Outsider child is now a young man who desires above all to belong. But Oh’Dar is not of the People. And Oh’Dar is not of the Brothers. The blood of brutal Outsiders runs through his veins. What If…tormented, he leaves the safety of Kthama to search for his roots—leaving behind the only family and the only world he has ever known. Seeking the Outsiders as he sets out on Oh’Dar’s Quest.

What If...Justice delivered, the Healer's Blade at her feet, Adia finally faces a future filled with the hope of new beginnings. But destiny has other plans, and the wheels of providence turn again, this time unearthing a past the People believed was long gone and buried. While sickness and conflict threaten to take from Adia all she holds most dear, she must find the strength to guide and protect those she loves. What If...the time has come to make Contact.
6. Revelation
What If…Long-held beliefs about their origin, their true relationship with the Sarnonn, and the role of the Ancients are shattered by voices from the past. As Adia deals with the Sarnonn sickness which has spread throughout Kthama, tension builds as Khon'Tor's son demands his place as heir to the leadership of High Rocks. What If… Time is running out, and the High Council must soon decide the course of the People or face inevitable extinction. But will the Sarnonn prove to be their salvation—or their downfall? Everything is at risk, as Adia and her people grapple with the sins of the past and the specters of impossible choices...in Revelation.
7. The Edge of The Age
What if… The Sarnonn Leader, Haan, battles as his community at Kayerm splits over his decision to open Kthama Minor, sealed by the ancients thousands of years ago—the birthplace of Wrak-Wavara, the Age of Darkness. Meanwhile, at Kthama itself, the promise of new life brings joy to the People, but the Healer’s heart is burdened by a premonition of tragedy. The growing tension between Khon’Tor and his son finally reaches a breaking point. Denied his heritage as heir to the leadership of the People of the High Rocks, Akar’Tor devises a plan to exact a terrible price for his father’s refusal to give him what he wants. Having returned to Shadow Ridge to resume his life there, Oh’Dar comes close to revealing his mysterious past. And while he finally realizes where his heart truly lies, has he lost his chance for happiness in his delay?

What if… Hope returns to the hearts of the People with the arrival of An’Kru, the Promised One, prophesied to usher in the Wrak-Ashwea, the Age of Light. But amid the joy, the Healer realizes she must once again face the challenge of raising an offspring with an uncertain future. What if… Oh’Dar is still tormented by having to live in two worlds, and inspired by Acise, thinks the unthinkable. And Pajackok, still shamed by Acise’s rejection of him, commits a heinous crime that could crush Chief Is’Taqa and his family—forever. What if… Pan, the Last of the Mothoc Guardians, finally appears to Adia and teaches her more about the nature of the One-Who-Is-Three and reveals the true connection between the People, the Waschini, and the Brothers. But the breath of the Great Spirit, the Aezaitera, the continual presence of the life force entering and exiting Etera’s realm, will not be denied. As new lives start out, other lives are brought to a close. For change is the nature of life and calls on each to find the strength and courage to face Endings and Beginnings.
