Overview: Jack Laurence Chalker was an American science fiction author. Chalker was also a Baltimore City Schools history teacher in Maryland for a time. He also was a member of the Washington Science Fiction Association and was involved in the founding of the Baltimore Science Fiction Society.
The Well World series is largely set on a fictional planet named Well World. The Well World was constructed by an ancient alien species, known as the Markovians, who felt they had reached a dead end in their evolution.

NB: I recently purchased the primary 5 books in Jack Chalker's incredible Well World Saga.
These are digital releases from 2014 with updated covers and metadata. There are literally dozens of scanned versions of the 5 primary books on the net but I have never seen these recent retail digital versions in the wild. These versions even have the original print versions of the hex maps similar to the original books
