Aletta had left everything behind to start over at HSI. But her past is not content to remain where it belongs, in the past. Drawn reluctantly back into her past, she and Lirim race against time at they try to figure out who is behind the attacks on the Canticum Opera Company.
Struggling to fully harness her gift and running from her past, can Aletta and Lirim figure out who is targeting the Canticum Company before time runs out?
3. In Search of High Society
All's well that ends well, right? Although the Canticum case left her with a broken leg, Aletta is happy to leave the opera world behind and return to her duties at HSI. Even if this means that she is stuck behind a desk for the foreseeable future while her leg mends. However, her actions at the opera have landed her firmly in the limelight as several people seek to discover what secrets and powers she is hiding.
They say that you can never go home again. For Lirim, going home is something that he does as rarely as possible. The Glade is too small, too peaceful, for him to ever feel comfortable there again. Especially after his time spent fighting in the war. However, a threat to the Glade arises and they send out a call for help. Unable to leave his people unprotected and desperate to get his partner away from those who just want to use her, he reluctantly accepts the invitation to help with their problem.
Between magical creatures running rampant, Aletta's new gift, and hidden agendas on all sides, will Lirim be able to protect his partner and keep his sanity? It's a race against time, for the prophecy states that on Midsummer's Day, all will be decided. The stakes have never been so high and he dares not fail, for if he does, The Glade and Aletta will fall with him and all that has been hidden will be forced into the light.
