3. Shotput of Power
Recently promoted to Captain of the Royal Officials, Raneth Bayre is beginning to feel the strain. Struggling to remain safe in the Bayre-Frey Feud and trying to set a good example to the royal officials under him, it’s no surprise he keeps getting hurt. All he wants to do is take some well-earned time off and spend some days with the woman he loves, Dagger Bearer Aldora Leoma.
For Aldora, a break for Raneth couldn’t come soon enough. In her role as the assistant village leader for her home and the official Bearer of the Dagger of Protection, Aldora’s been hearing whispers that crime in the Giften Kingdom is at an all-time high. Seeing how hard Raneth’s been working since he was promoted, she fears the whispers are true. Every time someone knocks on her door, she terrified it’s a royal messenger breaking the news that this time, Raneth won’t be in a hospital bed healing, but dead.
When he turns up in her village with an assignment that the king has given him as a working break, Aldora’s determined to go with him.
Their assignment? To find the Shotput of Power, the only Weapon of Protection unaccounted for since it destroyed its own village. Rumoured to be the most violent of the six Weapons of Protection, and knowing it’s in the Newer Kingdom, neither are quite sure what to expect.
4. Broken Crown
Out of allies and out of time! After hunting down the Shotput of Power, Royal Official Captain Raneth Bayre and Dagger Bearer Aldora Leoma fly home to Giften. But something's wrong.
Aldora's village has been destroyed - this time burned beyond recognition - and the royal palace is empty. Confused, the two friends head to Wisner City to find out what's happened since they left for Newer Kingdom. Aldora's uncle has become the Kingdom's Guardian - a self-given title since he stole the Giften Kingdom from King Cray. His men consist mostly of criminals wooed to his side - the Brethren, men and women who use their gifts to subdue Giften citizens, and the Guardsmen, those in service to Denzel Leoma and his organisation, Broken Crown, who choose to use weapons to help govern the kingdom.
With Raneth setup for kidnapping Aldora, they barely have time to breathe before they have to flee. As Raneth works to save Giften from Denzel Leoma and his terrorist organisation, Aldora has to choose sides: Raneth and the Giften they knew before, or her uncle and the deadly version of Giften her home is becoming...
5. Daggerless
They've saved the kingdom, but the clean-up isn't their next challenge... It's been a hard two weeks since Aldora and Raneth saved Giften from Aldora's uncle and his terrorist organisation.
As the royal official captain, Raneth has been working as the acting regent as they await King Cray's return. Aldora, without the Dagger of Protection, a home or the trust of the Giften people, has been doing what little she can to help. Going from one of the kingdom's celebrated heroes to a disgrace has been a hard fall for her, but Raneth still trusts her.
But he's not sure they can get married now. With popular opinion being that Aldora led him into a trap, he fears that the king, his father and his Godmother will force him to marry somebody the Giften people would prefer.
But the king never reaches the palace. He, his family and his household are murdered, and when Raneth goes to investigate, he find the culprits waiting for him...
Aldora and Raneth discover who is really behind everything that has happened to them and Giften since the day they met: who forced Aldora's uncle to want the Dagger of Protection for his safety, who manipulated crime in Giften to reach records highs - forcing the law enforcers to stretch themselves thin - who originally created the terrorist organisation Aldora's uncle stole and that caused the first sighting of the Shotput of Power in years. They thought Denzel was bad, but at least he didn't have the power their new enemy has.
