Emma’s implant was a reject, so she is one of the few sane people left on the Earth. After adopting Sunshine, when his mother dies giving birth, her only goal is to keep the boy alive. Their journey is not an easy one and becomes even more complicated when she runs into Marcus, a handsome young man who knows how to survive, but has the personality of a prickly cactus. For one reason or another he tags along as they try to find a place in the world to call their own.
