Secrets of the Runestones series by Dennis Medbury (#1-2)

Overview: I am a veteran of the United States Navy. After 14 years of service, I developed PTSD, which led to insomnia. I am not a medication person, so I started thinking up a story to help me get to sleep. Everytime I got to a point in the story where I didn't like the direction the story was going, I would start the story over in my head. Every time I started over, the story would change and evolve. New characters were added, new abilities developed or new histories in the world came to light. After nearly 20 years of going over the story, it stopped changing, so I decided that it was time to put it on paper. The Secrets of the Runestones series is a product of me taking a debilitating condition and turning it into something positive. The characters are all dear to my heart. Writing fantasy involves a great deal of thought and research. Trade routes, monetary systems, government and religions are just some of the things you need to think about before you get to the fun stuff like swords and magic. I believe I put in the effort, and created a story that anyone can enjoy.

1. Secrets of the Runestones
The Secrets of the Runestones is a mystical foray into the world of Preclarium. You’ll be drawn into the character diversity, such as Dorian, the half-dwarf whose life’s desire is to forge the world’s greatest blade. The wild elf Razuul, who reigns supreme as an arena fighter, battles to gain his freedom. Clarissa, the young High Priestess, hastily makes a harrowing mistake with dire consequences. Once you capture the elemental secrets of the runestones and their magical effect in Preclarium, the dynamic will leave you wanting more.
2. The Price of Vanity
The Secrets of The Runestones, returns us to the world of Precalarium and the continuing adventures of its diverse inhabitants. Dorian, the half-dwarf, created a fearsome weapon, and must keep his power in check as he faces the discrimination of being born as a half-blood. Razuul, the wild elf known as Dragon Fist and the only person to win his freedom of the arena, is now free to find his people and vows never to be a slave again. Clarissa, the disgraced and displaced high priestess, remains intent on regaining her position and birthright but at a high cost.
