What Sydney does not know is where, or why, the marshal took her new Silkie friend. But that is because Sydney has never been to the grim Salt world. Chidi Etienne knows who the marshal is – the Silkstealer, a rumored boogeyman who kidnaps Silkies like her and takes them away, never to be seen again. While his presence at the Indy Zoo is worrisome enough, it is what Chidi does not know that fears her more: who is the Silkstealer’s next target?

Locked away in the darkened underbelly of a modern day slave ship, an eternity of servitude is the best he can hope for if he is unable to escape before the slaver crew reaches their destination. If he can’t escape . . . Kellen might rather choose death than a Selkie life.

They’ve been attempting to escape the unforgiving Salt realm for as long as they can remember with seemingly no way out for any of them. And if Chidi thought pleasing one monstrous owner was rough, now she’ll have to contend with two if she wants to stay alive.

If the former captain and his traitorous crewmate could work through their grievances, the deadly pair might even make a good team and better their odds for escape. Except Henry isn’t the only one down in the ice mines with an axe to grind . . . and when a ghost from their past shows up, it may be neither Lenny or Henry have to worry about escaping the labor camp or ever working together again. They’ll need to find a way to live until tomorrow.
