Middleton's Pride (Books 3-4) by Caleb Wachter

Overview: Ever since I was young, I've enjoyed reading stories which spurred my imagination into overdrive. After helping my brother edit his own books, I decided it was time to give something back to the community which has inspired me.
Until recently I spent far too many nights rolling dice with friends and creating what I hope were myriad memorable campaigns. Now a father of four I have less time for such engagements, but that doesn't mean I can't share the fruits of my imagination with an eager crowd.
Genre: Fiction > Sci-Fi/Fantasy

McKnight's Mission
Book Four in the military sci-fi Middleton's Pride series, set in the popular Spineward Sectors universe--which is up to fifteen books and counting!
The last chapter in the escalating war between the Multi-Sector Patrol Fleet and House Raubach saw the destruction of the so-called Alpha Site at Cagnzyz, but the Imperials were not the only side to take heavy losses during that climactic conflict.
In the aftermath of that fateful battle, the burden of command falls to the young, ambitious Lieutenant McKnight. Her top priority is to return to Fleet Headquarters with her surviving crew in one piece along with a freighter full of mysterious technology--but of nearly equal importance is establishing an intelligence advantage over the forces which continue to destabilize the Spineward Sectors to the detriment of its citizens.
To do that, she must devise a winning plan and convince Admiral Montagne to let her to undertake it--and then she must succeed in that undertaking, which is certain to be no easy task in itself. Her crew must also learn to adapt to life without the comrades they lost at Cagnzyz, and no member of McKnight's crew will find this more difficult than Lu Bu when she welcomes new life into the universe.
Old allies are replaced by new ones, and an old grudge is finally settled when McKnight leads an unlikely assemblage of warships to House Raubach's final bastion in the Spineward Sectors: the Beta Site. Will they succeed, or will House Raubach finally remove McKnight and her allies from the picture?
Against The Middle
After emerging victorious against the Rim Fleet detachment sent to destroy them, Captain Middleton and the Pride of Prometheus’ crew point the bow at the heart of the enemy stronghold with a unified purpose: to destroy these Imperial interlopers and erase their subversive plans to conquer the Spineward Sectors before the first of the Raubach Clan’s dominos can fall. But their ship has been through more than even her Captain was aware, and before they can break their orbit of Capital the crew’s morale will once again be tested by an unexpected change in berthing assignments—one which will have a domino effect of its own on certain members of the crew. Their journey will take them beyond the Rim of the Spineward Sectors, and the first leg of that journey brings them face to face with evidence of a truth so profound it challenges Imperial propaganda at the most fundamental level. But this evidence also leads Captain Middleton to a path which just might grant the Pride and her crew a path to victory over their enemy—an enemy which outnumbers them fifty warships to one! It will take guile, it will take valor, it will take grit, and most of all it will take the best ship in the Spineward Sectors to carry this brave crew to the field on which one of the Spine’s most important, but least known, battles will take place. Before the end, relationships will be tested, new friends will be made, old ones will be called upon, and the price of victory will require the ultimate sacrifice—and perhaps much, much more—from the Pride’s crew.
