After a series of failures, he finds himself hitching a ride on a small smuggling ship with a motley crew, including a habitual gambler, a psychopath and a smuggler. At first it seems like each of them is operating their own agendas to get him off the ship, until Dev discovers a conspiracy in their ranks. And uncovering who is behind it all might be the key to finding his target.
But Dev needs to be careful. There are a lot of powerful people supporting the defector’s agenda. People who will do anything to make sure they maintain the status-quo.
And they’re not going to let an officer of the law stand in their way.
2. The Planetary Con - The Job just got a Lot More Complicated
Dev is a man in conflict. While he may have captured Nolan and prevented him from selling any more of the Coalition’s secrets, doing so caused him to come close to violating his own personal code of conduct. Now he’s not sure he can trust himself anymore. He fears he’s becoming too similar to the criminals he’s had to partner up with.
But Nolan holds another secret: one that has the potential to disrupt the power balance in the Sargan Commonwealth. Thanks to one of Nolan’s associates, Dev and the crew know where to find this technology and who might be using it, but it requires venturing deep into Sargan territory, a world of true lawlessness.
Despite this, Dev is determined not to let Nolan get the better of him. But as he continues along this path, he can feel himself slipping. Dev never thought he’d find himself on this side of the law, and he’s not sure he’s going to like what he finds once he reaches the end of this road.
3. The Galactic Blind - When everyone else tells you what’s right, it’s hard to see what’s wrong
Dev used to be a man of principles. But he abandoned those after he was forced into an impossible situation by his former friend and colleague: Nolan. And while it feels freeing not to have to adhere to his coda anymore, he also senses he’s adrift. Untethered like the pirate ship he’s now living on.
All of this comes to a head when one of his shipmates: another expat from the Sovereign Coalition, tells Dev that Nolan’s plans could be used to upset the balance of power in the Coalition, and has set the organization on a path to war. A subsequent attack on a Coalition Space Station seems to confirm these predictions, drawing the crew of the Mettle into a conspiracy they want no part of.
Despite wanting to stay out of the Coalition’s politics, the crew is pulled into the middle of the storm and it will be up to Dev to find a way out, before they’re all either arrested or killed.
4. The Cosmic Sting - The Trail has Gone Cold…
Months after escaping Nolan’s grasp, Dev and the rest of the crew of the SS Mettle find themselves in a rut. Dessa is off with the Coalition, Dask has gone back home without another word, and Three is only growing more intolerable by the day.
But when a new opportunity presents itself to free Three from her computer prison, Traxia devises a plan that will solve all their problems…if they can pull it off. But executing a sting on the Sovereign Coalition is easier said than done, and not everyone in the crew is happy about the plan.
Only once everything is set into motion does the crew realize they’re part of a larger conspiracy. A shadowy figure sits behind it all, and it will take all of them working together to reveal their adversary’s true nature.
5. The Astronomical Heist - A crewmate in peril, a warlord on the loose and only one crew can do anything about it…
After learning their greatest enemy was back, Dev and the crew of the SS Mettle have their work cut out for them. Not only do they have to rescue one of their own from the Coalition after they suspect her as a spy, but they have to figure out how to combat a warlord who now possesses one of the most destructive technologies in the known galaxy.
But they are only one ship and they’re no match for a Warlord’s fleet. Traxia determines the best way to stop Abrams is to blackmail the Coalition into helping with the data Nolan was determined to find. The only problem is the data is scattered across three different systems, each with their own challenges.
This will be their greatest heist yet…if they can pull it off.
