Mae White was just an ordinary college sophomore until two years ago when everything changed after a power she never knew she possessed forced her into a life of pain and isolation.
Just as Mae begins to get her life back on track she’s kidnapped off the streets of Chicago.
Her kidnapper claims to be a Guardian: a race of warriors, created by the gods, who have taken over as protectors of the supernatural world. If that wasn’t strange enough, another Guardian walks in during the interrogation and claims she is his mate.
The Guardians tell Mae what she already knows: she’s a danger to those around her. Normally, anyone else in her situation would be terminated. But Mae has been offered an olive branch: if she helps them break the curse that hangs over the Guardian race, they will help her find a way to control her power so she can have a normal life.
Can Mae trust these Guardians enough to break down the walls she has built around her? Will she be able to break their curse? And does she really want to put a name to the monster hiding beneath her skin?
2. Song of Resurgence - Mae White no longer wonders what type of monster lurks under her skin or why she was given such destructive power. Those questions were answered. Now new information has come to light and the danger to everyone around Mae no longer comes from her but from an unknown enemy trying to destroy the world by bringing back the demi-gods and their wrath they will unleash.
Missing shifters, rabid werewolves, and a dark energy that causes everyone to lose their minds is just the tip of the iceberg. With too much at stake and in way over their heads Mae, Rylan and the others decide it is time to call for backup. But when back up arrives, a whole new layer of danger is added because the new Guardians that arrive only see Mae has their enemy.
Will Mae be able to finally harness the power that was unlocked within her in time to stop their unknown foe? Will she be able to gain the trust of the Guardians who see her as the enemy? With time running out and danger lurking in the shadows Mae must believe in herself and learn to trust those around her in order to save the world.
