Overview: Back in the Summer of 2006, J.C. decided to write fun stories. And much to the exasperation of literally everyone around him, he never stopped trying to write fun stories. 1. Benregesh Initiate
When a down-on-his-luck Kaleb Mastiff finds work at the Benregesh Detective Agency, he jumps head-first into a world of car chases, bar brawls, and magical mayhem. The work is dangerous—criminals in Mitror City are equally skilled with firearms and magic—but armed with his wit and his scrappy fighting style, Kaleb is more than up for the challenge. However, a demon out of myth has reappeared in a torrent of fire and blood, murdering a city leader and imperiling all of Mitror. Kaleb has a dark personal connection to this monster, and when the Benregesh get roped into tracking it down, it’s only a matter of time before they clash.
2. Benregesh Protector
Kaleb Mastiff’s first few days of detective work have left him bloodied and exhausted, but wasted time is wasted money, so it isn’t long before he leaps back into danger as the newest full-fledged member of the Benregesh Detective Agency. Despite the hell he went through, however, Kaleb’s trial by fire was just a warm-up compared to what awaits him. Enemies lurk in the shadows and at the head of the government, waiting for the perfect opportunity to rid themselves of him and the Benregesh. Somewhere in the midst of all this violence and death, the Necrothrall is planning its next move. Kaleb has to find it before it kills anyone else, but that’s only if he can avoid dying first.
