1. These Times of Abandon - Leighton McDaniel is in her first year at Northern Kentucky University when an EMP detonates above the US. The lights are out, the grid is down, and electronics have failed, including Leighton’s new hearing aids. Unbeknownst to the college town of Highland Heights, the weather warning system is down and tornados are forming. As Leighton heads for her boyfriend’s farm, an admirer of hers quietly takes chase. Nothing covers one’s tracks better than shadows and chaos, but some battles turn quickly, leaving one to wonder, who is the wolf, and who becomes the prey?
As the tornado’s winds begin to whip, and Kentucky descends into lawlessness, the former Golden Gloves boxer, Hudson Croft, is forced to defend his home from violent opportunists. Hudson is ready for the anarchy, but he never anticipated the tornado heading his way, or the war Leighton McDaniel brought with it. Although Hudson is anxious to return to the fight, he remains haunted by his past boxing injuries, for one blow to the head, and it’s lights-out on his life.
Amid such an unprecedented attack, a handful of citizens will fight to survive the many storms bearing down upon them. Those clinging to the old world will perish while those who abandon the former world will dig in and fight, proving the might and strength of America are not found solely in her military or her commerce, but in the heart of her people.
2. These Times of Retribution - Before the EMP hits, before a crushing storm arrives, a package from Colt McDaniel’s brother is hand-delivered to his house, upending his entire world. What Colt discovers inside the box is an item that shakes him to his core. A tyrant from his past is coming, and all hell is coming with him.
More alarming to Colt than the item in the box is his brother's cryptic message: You need to be who you were, who I was, not who you are now. His brother was a sullied man. Colt once was as well. He managed to break free of his past, however, vowing never to return to that side of himself. But then the power went out, people began to panic, and society seemed to crumble overnight.
As Colt, his wife Faith, and their dog, Roscoe, shelter in place, they not only work to understand the nature of the EMP and the threats of a grid-down scenario, they must take up arms against both local threats and a beast from the past. All this while fortifying their home and trying to survive what feels like the mother of all storms.
While suffering inclement weather, a surge of grid-down violence, and his brother’s enemies, Colt scrambles to figure a way out of town, find his three kids and bring them all to safety.
All this before the murder.
3. These Times of Cessation - When the EMP hits Columbus, investigative journalist, Rowan McDaniel, is trapped in a downtown high-rise with insurgents surrounding the building. While his co-workers speculate about the power outage and the onslaught of violence abounds, Rowan becomes increasingly concerned for his pregnant fiancée, Constanza. In the face of insurmountable danger, he must wade into the mobs of anarchists if he hopes to save himself, his family, and his employees.
Make-up and beauty influencer, Constanza Navarro, is eight months pregnant and driving home from the hospital when her car suddenly dies. With the city held hostage by a grassroots revolution, the pains in her stomach continue unchecked. Fearing the worst, she abandons the car thinking she can walk home. Only when a stranger comes to her aid does she feel that she and the little girl growing inside her might survive. But not everyone is who they claim to be, and not all intentions are good intentions.
Amid the chaos, in the grip of lawlessness, the city is teeming with wolves pretending to be sheep. To Constanza, what first appears to be a sign from God becomes a fight for her life and a struggle to save her newborn child. Isaiah Wright is the deputy chief of staff of operations and Marley’s colleague. He made his family proud with his accomplishments in Washington D.C., but now, with the White House burning and the president MIA, Isaiah is lost in a dystopian landscape with no plan, no resources, and no direction. Only when he happens upon a familiar face does Isaiah see a sliver of hope, but not everything is as it seems, and Isaiah is about to address a crisis like no other.
To stop the post-apocalyptic chaos that has come with the EMP and the failed power grid, Marley, Isaiah, and President Kennicot will gather up their resources, route out the traitors, then try to cut the head off this snake, not just for themselves, but for the sake of the nation.
