Overview: Peter is a high-status professional. He lives the cushy life on Earth with his partner, far from the climate refugees and starving proletariat addicted to the fantasies meted out by AI – via the immersive ‘link’. His modest aspirations keep them both firmly rooted – why would he ever want to change that?
But his overbearing mentor has other plans, forcing him to accept a mysterious test mission in Low Earth Orbit. Meanwhile back on Earth, industrial espionage is afoot – and the doomed path of an Intelligence Operative eventually crosses Peter's, in a most unexpected way.
Whilst in space, an unforeseen relationship forms, and Peter is forced into a destructive race to acquire the fruits of the Intelligence Operative's labours; data which could cement the grip of whichever corporate-state acquires them first. Fearing for the safety of his partner, Peter returns to Earth, only to be dragged deeper into the shadowy world of counter-espionage, where not only his identity must be inevitably consumed…but his life, also irrevocably shattered.
