Stories from Walking Street: Stories about the most popular Pattaya tourist street. by Roman Nikolaev , Anton Tkachev
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 1.4 MB
Overview: Thousands of lights are being lit on the Walking Street every evening, staining the crimson sky, which is in no hurry to abandon its position. Hundreds of people are flocking here, attracted by these alluring lights – lights of mysterious power. Women tourists with or without their companions or even children can sometimes be seen in the crowd. However, the main visitors of the Walking Street are men of different cultures and nationalities. Coming under the gilt arch, according to the Thai canon reading “Long live the king”, they disappear into countless establishments, bars and clubs on this lecherous street, becoming easy prey for the Thai ladies. After midnight, the Walking Street is theirs, although it may seem that anyone is presented here – magicians, loafers, salesmen of any stuff displaying their goods on wooden stalls. At the end of the street hid the ladyboys, desperately grabbing the hands of the lonely loitering tourists, but they also have to share their territory with the Hindus, who opened two large nightclubs, and the Russians, who originally have invariably settled in restaurants “Rasputin” and “Russo Turisto”. Their territory ends with the hotel “Siam Bayshore”, which is continued by the large club complex and pier “Bali Hai”.

However, the main part of the Walking Street and nearby alleys is owned by white men and swarthy women. And this book is a collection of essays by men who wanted to share their adventures in the Asian world. All of them expressed their thoughts quite frivolously, sometimes not even realizing how much the Thai adventures absorbed their hearts and minds. As an editor, I often have to assuage their feelings and emotions in their narratives, sometimes overwhelming. Although the heroes of these adventures did not always behave properly and did the right thing, their adventures struck a deep chord with their audience.
