1. Tails Of The Heart - Being pulled into another realm to be a hero? That's for young men, full of hopes, dreams, and clear set standards of right and wrong. They can be banners of hope to fight against the evils in front of them with unwavering faith and fortitude.
You don't take old men. They have seen the world through increasingly jaded vision, with lines of morality blurred by years of hard ambiguity. Right and wrong have become non-existent, only a continuing path forward lies ahead of them. One footstep after the other, by whatever means necessary and with whoever it takes to make it through to the next day becomes the basis for their actions.
It's a dangerous game to place your hopes on an old man, especially one who has lived his life with one foot on either side of the law. One who desires to escape his mortality, who would gladly seize another opportunity to do things... differently.
Fifty years old and ready to embrace the latter years of his life with his family, he suddenly finds himself dropped into another world for reasons that remain hidden. A world that at first glance seems familiar, if not for the denizens who are, indeed... different. And the fact that, in this world, magic is real.
A dream? Psychotic episode? Kidnapped and plugged into an experimental game? With no way of knowing, he can only move forward in a search for some kind of answer. His survival comes down to following his mantra. One step after the next, with whatever it takes and with whomever it takes, in a search for the next day and a reason for his very existence in a place so far from home.
2. Tails of Darkness - After jumping through a portal to leave the cursed stone in the Southern Peninsula, Dark finds himself angry and alone, separated from his mates and the Dienw. Answers are obtained and then taken away, leaving him on his own to face the darkness that now lies hidden deep within him, fully entrenched within the realm that he has somehow been magically transported to. Events on a dark path chosen by his own actions lead him forward to a destiny that he must fulfill, or the realm of demi-humans and all those that he has come to cherish within will surely perish.
He finds his path further complicated by political manipulations going on within the world, drawing him into their conflict. He must struggle to maintain his base doctrine for life, the one that he is sure holds his very survival.
Taking the next step after the last, with whatever it takes and whomever it takes, and to hold on to his failing hope and sanity just long enough to make it through another day of life...
3. Tails United - A dream? A psychotic episode?
All while laying comatose in a hospital bed for weeks, and yet... Memories of living, breathing, fighting, traveling… loving. Feelings of love and joy, fear and loss, all reside within his head. An entire world that looked real, felt real, even smelled real. The denizens and the world itself had all captured a part of his heart, one that was now broken with loss. Loss of that world, and loss of her.
Laurana. A beautiful fox demi who had sacrificed herself to save him and return him to his home. But it can’t be real, it was all in his head. Or was it? That strange whisper, the voice of a Goddess of a faraway realm, seemed to imply that something had gone wrong. That he had either not actually accomplished the task that he was fated to fulfill, or that something else had gone terribly wrong. The whisper that had followed him into this world, into the hospital room that he woke in, before going silent.
The only proof that he had that perhaps, just perhaps, it had all been real and not a fantasy in his head.
