1. Second Chances - Dying was easy. Coming back is another story.
Heaven White thought her life was over. After breaking Ely out of prison and trying to escape town, getting shot wasn’t all that surprising. But then she wakes up, and now she’s on the other side of the prison bars. While everyone who cared about her believes she’s dead, Heaven is sent to section 22 just like the evaluators originally chose for her.
Knowing little about the military section beyond its high casualty rate, Heaven is determined to do whatever it takes to survive long enough to make it to her first leave. When one of her instructors challenges her not to waste her second shot at life, she decides she’s not going to stay in section 22, waiting for the day she’s allowed to leave.
But getting off base is only the beginning. She’ll have to survive more than that if she ever wants to get back to Ely, her family, and her home. And she’s beginning to wonder who she’ll be by the time she gets there… if she gets there.
2. Project Liberty - I see the way these people look at me, like I’m magic or something. But I’m still just human. I can’t be what everyone expects of me.
Heaven White isn’t sure where she belongs anymore. Section 22 changed her, and home changed while everyone thought she was dead. Moonshadow isn’t the place she left behind. The Resistance has moved in, and the threat of war hangs over her hometown. When she’s asked to travel the Southern California Region and share her story, she agrees even though a part of her knows she’s running away.
Ely James is sick of being left behind. He just learned Heaven’s alive, and now she’s leaving again. He knows he hurt her, but he’s not going to let her walk out of his life so easily this time… especially not with another man. He’ll follow her from town to city to village if that’s what it takes.
But will their feelings even matter if they can’t survive their travels or convince the Resistance to agree to a truce?
