Forlorn Raider series (#1-3) by Travis Laughlin

Overview: I am a new author that started writing with the purpose of sharing the worlds and characters in the universes I have made. My writing career started in March 2020 with story boarding out my book series, 'Forlorn Raider'. Since then, I have written several manuscripts and mockups for future entries into the series.
Expecting things to be harsh due to known issues, such as poor leadership, combating demon aggressors, and solving supply chain issues, General Raider has found himself in much more dire straits than he could have ever anticipated after his recent graduation from the Royal Military Academy. He has been thrust into a high-ranking military position that has pressure mounting from all sides. Raider must gain control of the spiraling situation his country, Alvernia, has found itself in by order of King Forsythe or face a never-ending tide of impending disasters. The King makes it clear that they will be forced, against Raider’s objections, to use their last remaining resource, the National ManaBank, to summon a ‘Hero’ from another world to avert total annihilation if Raider is unsuccessful. As he sets off on his mission to visit the forts along the eastern front, countless unforeseen problems always seem to impede his every effort. Will Raider be able to rally others to save Alvernia? What will happen if the Hero is summoned? Follow Raider as he struggles against the horrors the world of Genesis throws at him.

Their cooperation must be secured by your fiancée as she has the only ties back to her homeland. To the west, the Tuscany Empire has not responded to the aid and reinforcements they promised. Without these resources, I am afraid we won’t last more than a year. Finally, to your charge on the eastern boarder lies an ever-increasing number of demon incursions from the Unknown Territory. With all that is befalling us, we must maintain order until we can secure our future with a Hero Summoning Ritual. Now go forth, General Raider, to our fortresses along this treacherous frontier and ensure our armies readiness. Do your job well and bring prosperity to Alvernia and all her people. For if you were to fail, great calamity will be the least of our dire straits.”

But in the end, you’re just a coward that escapes reality to avoid any real conflict.”

I’ve even been so kind as to listen to your requests occasionally. So, I ask again, what must I do? Should I take the opposite approach, and kill everyone? Yes, that’s what they are telling me. Killing is the only thing I’ve ever been good at anyway. I need to kill everyone until you realize your power. The more people that die, the closer you will be to manifesting the Void and permanently linking with me. Yes, this is indeed the time.”
