Notes of Necrosoph Series by Al K. Line (2-8 )
Requirements: epub, mobi, azw3 reader, 2.1 mb 367 KB
Overview: Al K. Line is a British author who lives in rural England with his wife, son, and dogs. Apparently he has chickens, too, but said they don't count even though they are more productive than the dogs.
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy

2. Dog Days - Spilled wine. Dwarf in the hall. Lump on the head. That's what Soph got by 7AM on his birthday. And the Necronote was yet to arrive.
After torture by teenage karaoke, and a restless night, he figured he'd get going early the next morning to get the job done and return to his family. But when had it ever worked out like that?
Those behind the mysterious notes seemed to have chosen him as their plaything. More snippets of vague information, attempts on a dear friend's life, and that was before he even began his quest to kill another stranger.
Eventually, he makes it to Liverpool, but the city has been ravished after strict lockdowns and draconian measures designed to curb impending global catastrophe. Soph hates the city, he yearns for the countryside and the relative peace with his animals.
As the body count inevitably rises, and madness consumes our weary, broken Necro, Soph wonders if he's finally come to the end of his long, torturous life.
Not for the first time, he questions whether the price for survival is worth paying.
3. Dragon Nights - First day out of hospital and what does a poor Necro find? That he has to go and kill again. This time he's got an unexpected companion.
The neighbors aren't who they seem, the witch bitch mother-in-law has decided to move in for a while, and Soph's dog keeps vanishing. He even found him inside the fridge!
But that's just the fun stuff.
The UK's weather takes a turn for the unexpected. Winter snow threatens to stop the death march in its tracks. But the battle is on, and there is no escape. With a dragon lusting after blood, and growing larger and more unruly by the day, and uppity unicorns putting a downer on everything, the real struggle our weary Necro faces is just staying sane.
Soph refuses to give in even when the odds are utterly stacked against him. When it comes to family, he'll ditch his few remaining morals if it means he can return home. When he does, he discovers the fight is far from over.
At least he can make snowballs.
4. Kill Switch - With his guts squirming and every possible precaution taken, Soph still gets assaulted by the yearly Necronote.
Things get so desperate, he has to call on Mr. Wonderful to save him. Never, ever rely on a cat. For anything. Ever. But the drama is far from over. His dog has an existential crisis. It's petageddon yet again.
With strict electric quotas still in place, but the digital age in full binary swing, when the kill switch is finally flicked the world goes truly dark.
No communication, no surveillance, no social media, and no streaming. What do people do when the internet shuts down and every move is no longer monitored? Nobody seems to know.
The good news? Soph gets an unexpected opportunity to drive along the empty streets of England. But before the murder hunt even begins, he's confronted with all that's bad about humanity. With his head (and wheels) spinning, but with a nice bag of peaches on the passenger seat, our weary Necro does what he reluctantly does best and kills without remorse.
But that's the easy bit…
5. Witch Bitch - "Happy Birthday to you…" sang nobody, because Necros knew what gift they'd receive. It was the same every year. Death.
Soph still got a surprise though, then another of an altogether more personal kind. What do you do when your just-turned-teen-and-instantly-feral daughter pushes the boundaries too far? Soph knew the answer, but it caused more pain for him than he'd imagined.
From there things went downhill rapidly. Cars were crushed, daemons got cheeky, dwarves lost the plot entirely, wizards played their games, and the witches showed the true extent of their savagery.
As Soph gained more insight into the Necroverse, even the madness of this years Necronote paled when he was confronted with his own worst personal nightmare.
At least he got to have cake.
6. Blood Ties - Soph had come to expect the unexpected, but getting vanquished by a faery was still a genuine surprise.
Even more surprising was where he found himself.
Has he been sent on a mission to rescue the Brewer? Vampire, and all-round excellent maker of beer? Or is he just being screwed with because the fae are like that?
With more than enough on his plate, there's the issue of always looking the same. You can only look like a grumpy middle-aged man for so many years before people start to ask questions.
Revelations regarding the witches' plans for the future put Soph at a crossroads he has no wish to be at, but when did he ever have a choice?
Half the roads in the country have been dug up, there are more drones watching than ever before, roadblocks are manned by insane sentries, and the rationing has become extreme. Freedom Week is now in full effect—no power, no fuel, no electronics for a whole week. A sign of a brighter future, or something more sinister?
As the machinations of his Necro overlords push Soph ever closer to breaking point, his Necronote arrives at the worst possible time. Not that there is ever a good one.
Weary, battered, mentally unstable, and distraught about abandoning his family, Soph once again sets out to commit an atrocity.
Maybe this time his unseen masters will take pity on him and make the job an easy one…
Welcome to the Necroverse, where the violence is brutal, the swearing graphic, and the unicorns are extra stupid.
7. Spy Games - A new home, a new life, with space to finally be themselves. But for Soph and his family, some things never change. He tries to defy his note but there is no escaping the yearly murder he must commit.
With food rationing now causing real issues, Soph and Phage decide to drink away their sorrows. But the neglect of their daughter has dire consequences, and even an adventure in the dwarven realm may not be enough to fix the relationship.
A disturbing glimpse into the true nature of the Necronote's origins convinces Soph that he has been singled out, but this time he won't be swayed from a course of action that may be his downfall.
As the entire world descends into madness, and riots hinder our increasingly unstable hero's reluctant quest to commit another atrocity, Peth and her gang of witches reveal their true intentions in the most unlikely of places.
The new world is more like the old than he realizes, but one final shock sends Soph reeling. He finally accepts that the future for Necros will be very different to the one he always envisaged. And he must be a part of it.
Welcome to the Necroverse, where the violence is brutal, the swearing graphic, and the unicorns are extra stupid. You have been warned!
8. Stubborn Mule - Soph vows never to commit an atrocity in the name of the Necronotes again, but before he's even left his property murder rears its ugly head.
Defiant, he goes in search of his missing daughter, fearful for her safety despite her dragon companion.
But the Necroverse has other plans for this weary, brutal man, and he's bombarded with terrifying visions of the future he finds it impossible to escape from.
But when has he ever given up? Soph will rage against the brutality and do whatever it takes to protect his family, even if it means losing his own life.
As the stakes get higher, and he crumbles under the pressure, a final act of madness might be his downfall, or his salvation.
