3. Level Zero - Elderly military veteran Volper had no idea what to expect when he entered the virtual world of Alpha Rome. But he now realizes that it’s not a game, after all. The number of times you can respawn by replicating in special capsules is limited and might one day run out.
Volper has also had to take on a group of teenagers and has managed to turn them into a lethal combat squad. However, their success has not gone unnoticed, and the team has caught the attention of some powerful corporations.
He might have successfully gained the Skurfaifer profession, but Volper is now the focus of a manhunt. Why were the Skurfaifers wiped out all those years ago? Who did they work for and what’s left of their mighty combat division? All of this is yet to be found out.
Volper also needs to clear his debt with the person who helped him get this unique profession. So, he and his team are heading down to level zero—a place filled with monsters and jeopardy—but the real aim of this raid remains a mystery. The only thing left to do is make his team stronger and try and get hold of as much information as possible. He mustn’t forget, however, that in this world even those who help you in your hour of need can’t be trusted. After all, despite all his achievements, Volper is still new to this virtual project and site of a battle between paramilitary clans which has been raging for centuries.
4. The Hybrid War - What began as a normal game for a retired veteran who, after a long and eventful life, decided to spend his few remaining days inside of a virtual world, has abruptly started acquiring features of reality. A terrible, dysfunctional, and sometimes murderous reality.
For a while, Volper only manages to survive thanks solely to his combat experience. And then he meets others he simply cannot pass by, because of one of his two weaknesses. Children - even if they are already teens - are still minors according to the rules of this world, and therefore they’re viewed as just kids who stumbled into this terrible world without really understanding where they were going. The veteran is faced with a difficult decision: take them under his wing, or teach them how to survive on their own.
A soldier is a man of honor, after all, and must never leave another man behind. Over time, these children become more than just his charge: they become friends, and perhaps even a new family.
But fate decides he is capable of more, sweeping him up in a whirlwind of events and handing him a nearly forgotten profession that comes with both loyal followers and dangerous enemies.
And then a trip to the very center of this city-world reveals an even more shocking truth about the true nature and purpose of this place. All the more depressing to realize what human greed and cruelty have led to.
Now he’s left with no choice. All attempts to come to an agreement have been fruitless, and the only thing left on the table is war: by any methods, any means, using all available resources and sparing no thought for their own lives. They must destroy this false government so that the true Heart of Alpha Rome will shine again, meaning that humanity is once again on the path of salvation, not self-destruction. Isn’t that a goal worth risking everything for, even starting a war unlike any ever seen before... the Hybrid War!
5. Renaissance - What would you think if, in your old age, the doctors tell you that you only have a couple years left to live, and even ultra modern medical technology is powerless to help? Some may spend their remaining years at the bottom of a bottle, others may choose to spend it quietly, with family…But there are also those who are ready to leave everything behind. Volper is one of those who has decided to have one last hurrah and immerse himself in a virtual reality.
But from the very beginning, things start going wrong—strict suppression of information, evil mutants, uncannily life-like NPCs, mean little men whose inner darkness is unrestrained by the confines of the law…And it turns out the only way to survive in this game is to use the skills he’s acquired over his long life. The further he goes, the more he begins to suspect that this is more than just a game.
And then he encounters a group of teenagers that the ex-soldier’s conscience doesn’t allow him to leave behind—after so many military operations, he has a complex about kids. So without a second thought, he takes them under his wing and teaches them not just to survive, but to climb to the top of this reality’s food chain.
The more time Volper spends in this reality, the more he notices little inconsistencies, and the more convinced he becomes that this is not just a game. On top of the global conspiracy, there are also the shadowy intrigues of the local government…
But it all ends up being worth it—the secrets of this new world begin to unfold in front of him, leading him down to the very heart of the city, to Level Zero. But once he learns the truth, as a man of honor, he has no choice but to gather all his comrades-in-arms and embark on a military campaign through all the levels of the city, trying to restore it to what it was originally intended to be.
Imagine Volper’s surprise when the true Heart of Alpha Rome throws him to the wolves. Why? What is its aim? What a treacherous knife in the back! BUT WAIT! The Heart of Alpha Rome doesn’t just do things for no reason, and there’s still one person left who has ruined the harmony of Alpha Rome from the very beginning: the Administrator.
