Overview: Symmes Chadwick Oliver (30th March 1928 - 9th August 1993) was an award winning Science Fiction and Western writer and chair of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Texas at Austin. He was also one of the founders of the Turkey City Writer's Workshop.
Genre: Fiction > Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Mists of Dawn:
A young man, working in his nuclear physicist father's experimental time machine, accidentally gets sent back in time 10,000 years. The atomic batteries will need two weeks to recharge for the return trip. He was not prepared for this! Most of the book deals with him trying to survive among Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons. Unfortunately, his time machine is waiting in what is now "enemy territory"
Shadows in the Sun:
Anthropologist Paul Ellery discovers that the small Texas town of Jefferson Springs is actually an imitation of small-town America created by the aliens who now offer him a chance to explore the universe.
The Winds of Time:
They were visitors from outer space who'd come to Earth around 13,000 BCE to find only primitive cultures. They go into deep sleep while humanity matures. They resemble us & can both breathe the air & eat our food. Wes Chase discovers them while on a casual fishing trip. It was a long time before they were able to explain to him why they were on Earth or what they needed. They claim they're here to learn but their power makes it difficult to say what their real motives are. It was even longer before he conquered his horror & decided he could help them in their mission to bring peace to the universe. When he finally found the daring answer to their problems, he realized that he would have to leave his own life behind & go with them into the future & the winds of time.
