Two books by Peter Dagmar (ed. Jim3692)
Requirements: ePUB reader, 0.6Mb
Overview: Peter Dagmar (Frank James Pinchin) (1925 - 1990) UK research chemist and author. His first four sf novels, all as by Peter Dagmar, were: Alien Skies (1962), Spykos 4: Strange Life-Forms on Unexplored Planets (1962; vt Spaceways 1973), Sands of Time (1963) – a fairly complex Time-Travel tale in which visitors from the future attempt to destroy a post-World War Three super-Computer, perhaps to avert a Future War – and Once in Time (1963; vt Mind Probe 1973). Mars 314 (1970), under his own name, renders Near-Future space flight, in the first manned Spaceship to Mars, with some verisimilitude. Two Equals One (1982), his last Peter Dagmar title, features an electronic spying device which can read Computer memories.
Genre: Fiction » Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Alien Skies (1962)
The year was 2011. Sir Charles Grimshaw, Astronomer Royal, had summoned a young reporter from the Space Scientist first to visit the Observatory with him and view a curious phenomenon in the sky; then to publish anonymously an article the astronomer had written, which began:
SPACESHIPS MEETING
"It has been observed that a fleet of at least fifty spaceships is congregated off Venus. No other explanation of the shining spheres observed seems possible. Since there are only about twenty spaceships existing on earth, and none has yet landed on Venus, it is concluded that these other ships are of extra-terrestrial origin; probably they are even extra-galaxial . .
Spykos 4 (1962) aka Spaceways
Life in the City of Lynos was calm, steady, and fascinating. Here was the pulse of our Space-ways. . . . The planets of Spykos were gradually being explored and where congenial—populated. Every year more migrant ships left for Arka, Cerea, Caeris. But Doros was home for all... There was plenty for Kyris to do in the Space-fleets. There was Pylas, a moon of Doros, to destroy; there were forests to burn on Arka. With Kabris he searched for alien beings, with Ynas he watched the electronic transfer of living things, with Arak he talked of art and science; with Nasen he struggled to keep his own thoughts; with Alcis he made love. Time was short on Doros—shorter than any of them knew.
