1. The Gold Service - Thom Hugh was just a kid scrubbing tables at a dingy little pub before he was plucked from obscurity by the charismatic ship captain, Osyen Belt. He joined the crew of the transport Aurum, hoping to see all the wonders of the stars. What Thom did not expect was to ever see his estranged father again – Vice Admiral Ulysses Hugh.
Osyen Belt never thought that a kid from some backwater bar was going to get him into this much trouble. While the Admiral was pleased to find his son, he was actually hunting for Osyen; he has a job that only this space bandit can complete.
The Icon of Cruciform, a mysterious relic capable of incredible feats of healing has resurfaced. Lost for centuries, it is rumored to be held deep in a pirate-controlled sector where the Navy dare not go – and where Osyen has some influential friends. If Osyen retrieves the Icon, the Admiral can expunge Osyen's conviction as a Capital: a charge severe enough to have his name, rights, and citizenship stripped from him. He could live as a free man again, but only if he can get his hands on a centuries-old artifact.
Osyen and Thom have to assemble a crew and dive headlong into the most dangerous region of known space. Somewhere in the web of neon lights, seedy clubs, and crooked cutthroats is a relic of unimaginable power. Can Thom rise to the occasion? Or will Osyen’s checkered history sink them both?
3. Powers of the Gold Service - Osyen Belt's mother has turned up alive—and he's going to find her.
This time he won't be dancing around a crime-ridden cesspool or a frozen wasteland, but on the Imperial metropolis of Ilum, where every literal brick obeys the will of the Empire, entire buildings able to shift and slide to combat threats to law and peace. This is a criminal's worst nightmare...
He can't put his crew at risk, so Osyen embarks on this impossible mission alone. But Thom and the rest of the crew cannot sit on their hands while Osyen is in danger. They hurry to catch up with their friend—only to be embroiled in the machinations of sinister crime lord Anze Orchikov, who is more than happy to ally with the Aurum'sold enemies to turn Osyen's heroic quest into a fatal mistake.
Suddenly, their rescue quest becomes a desperate struggle to survive. If any of them are to make it out alive, Thom is going to have to confront his gift—and what it may mean for the future of the Aurum...
